Want "tar tar" sauce with that?

I am in the process of restoring a boler frame. Plan is to remove surface rust, prime with etching primer, then painting. As a final step I'm pondering coating the portion that goes under the trailer body with a spray on ashphalt product. Is there any down side to this?

I can't speak to using an asphalt product, but numerous times I have seen a product called POR 15 mentioned for portions of the frame that never see sunlight. Raz

POR 15 is also what is most often recommended in these parts as well.

Hi: glamourpets... I haven't used POR...but I think I've heard here that it's better applied over the rust without sanding or priming.
