There's also a nice Hannaford in Lansingburgh, a couple of miles in the other direction. There's also a Stewarts just down the road. They have all the basics like milk, bread, soda, etc.

And let me also put in a plug for the Troy Farmer's Market. It's the largest Farmer's Market in the area with live music and great vendors. Saturday from 9-2. Only about 15 minutes from your brother's place.

Starting to look

Hi All,
I am thinking about purchasing a small fiberglass camper such as the Egg, Scamp, Parkliner, but they don't come to big shows from what I can tell. I saw a suggestion to go to a rally and hopefully some friendly folks would not mind showing me their setups. So I would like to come to your event, and wonder if I would be welcome. I see GPS coordinates for the event, if that's precise I should be able to find my way. I'm about 3 hours south of you, and I would make this a day trip.
Thank you,
Mary

Love your comment. Potluck is just that. What you see is what you can pick from. I have never went hungry at a potluck and I am a fussy eater. Love the peanut butter sandwich idea. That would be a hoot to bring to a potluck dinner, a tray full of peanut butter sandwich's LOL.

Rick; I was just harassing Frank a little on the potluck. We do weekly potlucks at the campground we winter at in GA. Usually 50 plus people attending, and quite a variety of food from simple to fancy, same with deserts. We have to keep it fairly simple because of our limited cooking options with our small camper. We have done crock pot stuff, meatballs or hotdogs and beans, other times bought bags of cole slaw at the grocery store, and another time went to the local cafe that has fantastic pastry that is half price after 4 PM, bought several, and cut them up in pieces and took that. No complaints that we heard. There's a rule, don't complain about any food at a potluck, the person sitting next to you might have made it LOL. Unfortunately we can't make it to Frank's event because of my 50th high school reunion, but he's a great guy so I know it'll be good.

You would be more than welcome Mary! There will be a number of different kinds of eggs to look at. We did the same exact thing when we were thinking about buying an egg, & look what happened!

Any questions, just ask, or PM me.

Welcome to FGRV Mary, I'm sure you are welcome to the rally, we always love to show off our units to newbies so to speak and it is the best way for you to see what kind you want. Am I right Frank?

The weather report for the weekend

Astounding. Beautiful. 70+ degree days, cool nights. Sunny.

Got the big front coming through mid-week, late Tuesday and Wednesday, then the weather wizards are saying a cold front from our friends up in Canada is going to come swooping down and drag all that hot muggy air out to sea (or someplace, who cares where?).

I may try to get up there Thursday night after work, and then a (hopefully) quick appointment. We'll see. If not, it will be 1st thing Friday morning.

See y'all soon!

Frank

Directions to the rally (again)

Just so ya don't have to search all over, here's the address: 725 Hudson River Road, Mechanicville NY 12118 will get any GPS to the property. There are two driveways - it's the south one you want, but there will be at least one sign on the road and maybe even one or more live bodies. It's hard to say, as I've never done this before.

I wish I could join you all. Unfortunately, I'm working those days. I'm moving a boat from Portmouth to Norwalk, and it will be a solid three days to do it.

Sorry to hear that. Must be one darn big boat!

Newly mowed grass

I talked with my brother last night. He spent about 4 hours mowing his nearly perfectly flat back lawn yesterday getting ready for us. He has a zero turn mower that has a big bagger on it so it sucks up all the clippings. So we'll have nicely manicured golf course quality grass to sit on, and on top of that, will not be tracking grass clippings into our eggs. How's that?

The weather forecast stays on track. Big storm coming tonight, flood warnings out, then by Thursday it goes away, swept eastward by a cold front coming down from Canada, and promising a great weekend!

Another weather report

71 Friday, 20% chance of rain, but nothing heavy in sight. Overnight it will drop to 52, then rebound Saturday to sunny and 77. It will drop to 60 Saturday night, with temps reaching 76 Sunday with a 30% chance of rain.

That's the best I can do folks!

I hope you all have safe travels. I expect to go up after work tonight and set up, so will be around 1st thing in the morning Friday for any early bird arrivals.

Frank

Sure. It's 518 area code here, & John's # is six six 4 four 55 two. My cell is same area code, five two 6 two one 6 one.

I'm pretty much set up here, & hanging out with John & Nancy having some home made pumpkin pie.

Now that I am on site, here's some info. First of all, turn between the two orange traffic cones. As you approach the property, you will also see a sign for the rally, thanks to John!

Power is not really distributed as I thought. The primary source is a big piece of plywood with five 30 amp plugs, three 50 amp, & one 20. Another has one each 50, 30, & 20. There is one site with water that has a 20. The point being bring plenty of cord and adapters. While 30 amp is nice, I doubt we'll be using AC much this weekend!

Power will be $5/night.

See ya soon!

Frank
