We're not doing a steak dinner! That's out.

We're going to try and allocate power hookups ($6/night) based on sign-up order. Will that work?

They will provide tables and a tent. Right now they have seating for 36. We will need 5-6 people to help get the tent up.

Pets are welcome, but not under the tent. This is a rule of the property owners.

There may be a lien release we have to sign absolving the property owners of any potential litigation resulting from events at the rally. My brother & sister-in-law do rallies all the time, and tell me they're going to start doing that this year for all events on their property. If they do, we will be included.

Would people be interested in an ice cream social Saturday night after our pot luck? It's been mentioned (again, my brother & sister-in-law do these a lot and are prepared to do them), but I have no feel for cost right now. I don't think it would be expensive.

This is based on a phone call from my brother a bit ago.

I am very much looking forward to seeing all you folks. This is going to be different, just because it is on private property on the locks system of the Hudson, a great and relatively safe place to kayak and/or canoe.

Any questions, let me know. Thanks!

Frank

Frank, since we are close, we would be happy to help with the tent or anything else you need to do beforehand. Just let us know. An ice cream social would be nice. I think Jim and Noelia are coming and they are fans of Stewarts ice cream! We are bringing the kayaks!

That would be great Sue! Thanks!

I'm a fan of Stewart's Ice Cream too, but John & Nancy might make their own. I'm really not sure. Give me some time with this one, but I think doing one Saturday night would be cool (no pun intended!).

Gail & I are interested in getting kayaks, but given our physical limitations, I'm just not sure right now. I hope a bunch of folks bring kayaks so I get some idea of what's available. I think the only way we could get these on Gail's Escape would be too get Thule Hulavators (Thule Hullavator 897XT - Thule), and just that stuff is pricey, let alone buying kayaks! My middle son, who knows all about kayaks, thinks I should get a sit-on-top because of my back and leg limitations. Gail would get a sit in one.

Thanks again Sue, I will be in touch!

Frank

When you thinking of setting up the tent? We can be there early Friday afternoon if it helps.

As soon as we have enough people! I'm probably going to take Friday off, but Gail & Gregg (our oldest son) have to work that day I think. So it's gonna be the first folks that show up and can do this. I'm not gonna worry about it too much, we'll just get it done soon as we can. I appreciate your willingness to jump in & help!

When Ed and I were first looking we went up to the Lake George Kayak Co. They were great! We told them what we were looking for, and they pulled out maybe 8 different styles and let us try them. Their kayaks are pricey, so once we knew what we wanted, we started sitting in kayaks at every store that sells them. Our physical limitations are basically being old and chubby -lol. We wanted short, lightweight, widebody kayaks with sturdy backrests. Ed wanted to be able to fish and I wanted waterproof storage. We found the perfect ones at Gander Mountain. It takes both of us to get them on and off the truck, but we've gotten that down to a science.

Anbody heard from Sue (spfar) lately?

The last post I can find from her is on this thread from a bit over a year ago! I sent her an email a week or so ago, and did not hear back. I sure hope she is okay.

Thanks,

Frank

Hey Frank - Sorry, I didn't get your email. I did post on 5/29, and you responded. It's turning into a very busy summer, so I haven't been on here much.

Hi Sue, good to hear from you! We got up to the North Pole Resort in Wilmington & got set up just before it started pouring. Take care, and thanks. See you 3rd weekend in August?

Do you all have room for one more? I am not sure I can make it yet but I am trying.

After the 1st 13, I can't guarantee a power hook-up, but there will certainly be room. The more the merrier!

Being sent from an egg site at the North Pole Resort NE of Lake Placid...

Hey Sue! Oops, we don't like the campground. Probably would not stay here again. Sites are too small, and the place is kinda pricey considering what you get.

We too are looking forward to the August egg rally. Going to be fun!

Take care, & have a great 4th!

Frank

We'll Sue, the tent sites look bigger, but these trailer sites are one right on top of the other. It would be a real problem parking more than one vehicle at our site. We're in the 100 Mile Woods part of the campground, down Rt. 86 a bit from the main office & campground. I guess that part fronts on the Ausable River. Maybe today we can get over and see. We'll keep reporting!

Hi Frank
My hubby and I should be there early on Friday. We can help with whatever you need.
Did you post directions yet? Maybe I just missed it on the thread.
Off to Bolerama this weekend then camping a week in Michigan.
I love the summer!

Sue, just so you know, we ran into some Airstream folks who gave this place one exit up from the Lake Placid exit a good recommendation: Camping in Westport, New York Adirondack Camping at Its Finest

I revised my opinion of the North Pole Resort too. Even though we found the space cramped, the place was kept clean, patrolled, and does sit right in the middle of a whole lot of things to do!
