Welcome to the Cherokee 2014 official thread.

Hello Everyone! Although it is nearly a year away, We have had request to go ahead and get the official Cherokee 2014 Thread started. So here it is!

Rally dates are October 16-19-2014 At Happy Holiday Campground.

There are Brand specific rallies and non Brand specific ones.

We strive to make your Cherokee rallies welcome to every brand of Fiberglass EGG. We had many brands of Fiberglass Campers, attending the Cherokee 2013 Rally. And it was great! There were examples of new, on the market, FGRVs and beautiful examples of FGRVs that are no longer being built, as well as modern classics.

Keeping in the theme, we have decided to make FGRV.com the primary Web site so we won't have to post on 2 Casita sites, as well as here! This way folks that like to hang out on one site won't miss something that has been posted elsewhere.

Please understand our rational for this decision.

We will strive to make Cherokee 2014 the best yet, but it won't be easy. Jean is a very dynamic person that make organizing stuff look easy, even though it isn't. She has a very full plate, and has handed the reins to Lynne for 2014.

Lynn is enthusiastic and ready to go. She has already negotiated with Happy Holiday some concessions. For instance, those attending the rally and arriving a day or days early will get the 20% discount for the early days also. There were more. Jean made a great choice with Lynne.

With one primary site we will all be able to better manage and stay aware of current info as well as who is doing what.
I will try to post to the 2 Casita sites enough to keep them near the top for new folks to see.

Sunday when I went to check out of my site they told me that all but two or three sites on the front creek had already been taken. which is a very good thing. I have not made my reservations yet but I will probably be doing so shortly. I hope to see all of my old friends and to make lots of new ones at this rally. John I love your Compact Jr. sorry I did not get to visit a little more with you. I also would love to see a few more vintage campers.

This helps us keep a running list to get the 20% discount Happy Holiday has promised again. . Also helps when someone asks us if you are coming, what site you are on, and when you are scheduled to arrive. . And helps Lynne plan seating for the Pot luck.

Lynne and I will both keep a list and send E-Mails to each other of additions, cancellations and changes.

I understand that "Shorty" of *Green Eggs and Ham* fame will be taking charge of a new activity. The Chili Dump. Not sure where he will hold it or which night. In a nutshell we each fix our very best chili and dump it in a big pot with everybody elses. Last year at, GE&H, it was delicious.
I don't know if there will be a salad or bread or crackers.

Shorty will post his information a bit later .

I talked with the manager at HH today. They are already gearing up for us next year. She said they have started our "Egg Rally 2014" folder and several people pre registered when they checked out Sunday. So if you know which site you prefer,

FWIW, Lynne is the official Hostess of Cherokee 2014. I will be doing the forum stuff, Shorty the Chili dump. LindaLee the Pot luck table decorations. For starters.

If you have a viable suggestion let us know.

Jane thanks for reminding me about the dates. I edited post 1 with them.

I didn't take hardly any pictures , but there were a lot of cameras in use.
Hopefully some folks will post their pictures for us.

You and Greg were missed.

Several folks inquired if y'all were coming.

But understand your need to be elsewhere.

Once that is done your rally will show up in the sidebar on the right under upcoming events.

We have an enhanced rally calendar to help members find or promote rallies.

You can add an event to the calendar by clicking "Calendar" on the tool bar above. The Calendar is interactive and once a listing is set up, attendees can add their names to an attendance list (or remove them if plans change). This allows everyone to see who will be attending and should facilitate rally planning. When you start a new rally thread, be sure to set up a calendar listing and include a link to it in your thread. Anyone can post a rally and once posted, you can edit your calendar listing (in case your event changes).

Carol H tells me she is working on getting the 2014 rally map up and running soon. You can see the 2013 map in the stickies of http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f57/

Hello everybody! We have taken a break from postings! Just received an email asking about registration for the Cherokee rally in October. The rally dates are 10/16-19/2014. The site is Happy Holiday RV park ( www.happyholidayrv.com) in Cherokee, NC.

The best phone number is 828-497-9204...this is a local number. (Penny, the manager, says they will be eliminating the other 877 number soon.)

Please remember to tell them that you are with the fiberglass rally (20% discount) and let us know your site number, dates and state. Penny says that someone's email bounced back....(if you did not get a confirmation email, let them know.)
