A major part of the fun is running around checking out others' trailers and showing off our own. Lots of socializing and I've not noticed any snobbery at this or any other rally that I've attended. Come on and join us. You won't regret it. We all like to promote our own brand of trailer.

Sarah T. My rig is a work in progress but you are more than welcome to drop in.
I have a fair bit of literature including some original manuals on the Trillium.

I think the Saturday time frame is more or less just so people can sort of coordinate being available to show people theirs, and when is a good time to wander around check what others have.

Lot of more informal show-n-tell takes place too. People will get to talking about what they have done, or are planning to do. Someone says they are interested and off they go to check it out. :-) Then of course there are the Glamping types people just naturally stop by to admire how it's all decorated. Or at least my wife does!

Work in progress can be especially useful, gives people a chance to see how it is when disassembled or examine how repair or mod is being done.

How about this for serendipity? In March I posted this: “Just booked site #55. I graduated from Algonac High in 1964. That's right…50 years ago, so I will be having a one-person 50th reunion (no class reunion happening that I know of). Hope you all can celebrate with me instead!”

Turns out there is to be a 50th reunion on Saturday afternoon, September 6. Location....drum roll please...Algonac State Park picnic grounds! That’s right, same place I’ll be, anyway. I just have to stroll over to the picnic area from the campground. Two birds, one stone type of thing. Can’t wait. Busy shining up the old ’78 Trillium this week.

Although we won't be there, we have tried to have one person stay with the trailer during show and tell, while the other tours during other meets. Then we swap places telling the other what things to look for on what trailers. Outside of the planned time slots we have gone back to revist trailers and have freely shown others ours. I found that everyone so far has not minded tours outside of the scheduled hours.

Can your camper do this????

One nice thing about a reardoor camper like a Compact Jr is the ability to slide long items inside.

Just picked up this 9-1/2' kayak today and it is a perfect fit.

Below the kayak is a map of the Algonac area. The state park is in the upper right.

On the left side of the map is a wildlife area with many islands and I hope to get a chance, probably Friday, to go paddling.

Any other paddlers in this group?

Hi, Teresa and Michael, welcome to the Algonac rally! If you skim back through the thread, there is a lot of info about the rally in it.
The rally runs from Friday to Sunday (9/5-9/7) however some people come in early. I plan to be there on Thursday.
I'll be putting together a composite of all the rally information and will post it in this thread in the next few days.

Holy Cow! I think this is getting way out of hand. It's up to around 40 campers now. Ships going past on the river are going to be blinded by the sun reflecting off of all those eggs. Or maybe think the area is being overrun with alien pod people.

My little UHaul Shell has no shine, so I can't be blamed if one of the freighters runs aground.. However my UH neon light is rather blinding at times. And my awning owl lights... can't forget those.

I need to get my binoculars into the trailer too.

I'm putting you on the map, Randy. I'm not familiar with a 'Wisp' camper brand. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
