NY | 2015, Aug 14-16: Northeast Egg Beaters Hudson River Ramble

The 2nd annual NE Egg Beaters Hudson River Ramble will be Friday August 14 through Sunday August 16, 2015. It will again be on my brother John and sister-in-law Nancy's spacious (and flat) Hudson River property just north of Albany NY. There is power (maybe a small fee, like 5 bucks/per night), kayak access, and a dock they keep their party barge at. There is no fee for camping, but this year there will be a per/egg fee that includes a number of meals, maybe Friday and Saturday night dinners, and Saturday and Sunday morning breakfasts? Maybe an ice cream social?

I will see John & Nancy Sunday and see if we can firm up plans, or at the very least, some alternate plans for discussion here. They will be in charge of this event. I'll be the go-between, so please, don't shoot the messenger!

What do y'all think? Who wants to come?

I too glanced through last year's 18 pages and was surprised so few showed up after all that. It does sound like it was a lot of fun and I'd like to see that part of NY. Looks like a fairly easy two day drive for me and I plan to be there.

I would like to join, it sounds like fun. I am in the process of selling my Trillium but keeping an Eriba Puck, which is part fiberglass .

No need for power, water or anything special... a flat piece of ground and the mighty Hudson rolling by sounds like fun. Can I bring my kayak?

Sorry I have been remiss in responding folks. We've had some issues here.

Sue, we bring Buckley the schnoodle camping wherever we go. I don't know if you want to call it dog friendly, but bring your dog! Like us, we just need to clean up after our furry little friends.

My sister-in-law Nancy is an avid kayaker and often has friends over to use their small boat launch. Gail & I hope to have kayaks by then, and if we do, will bring them.

My brother John is running the show, and I believe is joining the forum to assist with questions, and post a registration form, once he gets one developed. I forget what he said they would do, but I think it's a steak dinner Saturday night, an ice cream social, and a ride on the boat for $25. Parking your egg over the weekend is free, and power is available for (I think) up to 13 eggs at $6/night.

As I find out more, I'll post it.

As the folks who were there last year know, John & Nancy are wonderful hosts. They have been putting on motorhome rallies for about as long as I can remember. That is one of the reasons they bought this property and have developed it the way they have. Even for rallies they do not sponsor, they are amazing grill cooks and do breakfast, lunch and dinner for big groups of folks, and have been doing that a long time as well. They just bought a big new King Canopy tent (22 X 27 I think), and have at least 8 folding picnic tables. You won't find much of a cooler private property to attend an egg rally on!

Sounds like a lovely weekend! We have a new pup (he will be just about 1 YO at the time of the rally) we haven't camped with him yet, but hopefully he'll have a few nights in the egg under his fur by then.

The cost is beyond reasonable, and it's a lovely area. We have two kayaks that we will bring.

And the fact that it is about ten minutes from our house is a plus!

Buckley came back from the vet yesterday with an order to lose a pound. Not too big a deal you say, but he's only 15#s! Poor little guy. He's very social though, and can't wait to meet your dog!

MacDougle (Doogie) is about 20 lbs. Short legged and furry. We think papa was a Kairn. He loves people. Not always sure about other dogs, but he's getting more social.

Looks like you are about 6 hours away from me, I'm going to put this on my calendar. Sounds like fun and "no cooking" but just relaxing....even better. Electric/water if available. What is the shower and dump facilities set up? I can use my on board facilities but would need to replenish and eliminate.

Frank, Third weekend in August is a lock, 2014. A public rest room and Shower are available at house down stairs. Public water is available. A dump station is up road 2 miles at County Waste and is FREE. Tents could be up, food is cooked at cost or potluck, we provide grills and propane free. Guided pontoon boat rides available, on the pool, thru locks etc, kayaks welcome. Fireworks are possible @$600.00 per event cost.
Frank you would handle the registration, and you and Gail could cook too. We could do a steak roast at about $5.00 each on Saturday night. Cook your own, or/ we, you, cook Frank, We could make available a steak roast, mashed potatoes, burnt onion gravy, green beans and an ice cream social for desert.
