"One man's junk is another man's treasure."
Bring along something for a door prize at the Saturday night potluck. Not a requirement.
Don't buy anything. Just bring anything you have around the house that you don't need any longer. Something useful, funny, cute, or ??? (Nothing questionable, like old Playboy magazines.)
Don't forget, this is a NOG which stands for Non Organized Gathering.
If some of you have remote-control cars, we can have a race!
You still have time to brush up on your stories or jokes. (Clean ones.)
We haven't done a sing-a-long as of yet, but we may give that a try. Anyone else know the words to "Sweet Violets?"
We want to keep the activities in line with the principles followed on this blog.
A note on the beer exchange. Donna D requires micro brew but I don't think we have to limit ourselves. Just a six-pack.
Travel Hints:
From I-90 take Hwy 18 cutoff to either Hwy 169 to 410 or to 167 to 161 etc.
OR I-82 from Ellensburg to Yakima and then US 12 west.
If you are coming from the north, you can save 48 miles by taking WA 167 in the Kent Valley, to WA 512/161 turnoff following WA 161 to WA 7 to Morton, then left on US 12 for about 5 miles to the sign just past the overhead bridge. (Morton is 30 miles east of the I-5/US 12 junction.) It is a winding road, but very scenic. (No gas/restaurants past the Meridian Ave (South Hill) shopping area until Eatonville and Morton.) (60.3 miles)
AVOID I-5 THROUGH FORT LEWIS/MCCORD (JBLM) ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON!
It tends to become a very long parking lot!
Also from the north: we took this route home last year: Hwy 410 through Mt. Rainier National Park, (no admission req'd) to Hwy 123, to US 12 then west to the turnoff at Glenoma. (111 miles) A little longer, but no traffic and very scenic.
Google miles from Puyallup to Glenoma:
I-5/US-12 = 108 miles
161/7/US-12 = 60.3 miles
410/123/US-12 = 111 miles
From the east, take US 12. (Consider gassing up in Yakima on the reservation - no Washington tax.)
From the south, take I-5 to US 12 (Exit 68) then turn east.
(At exit 68 is Spiffy's restaurant - good food
and an Arco station where gas is reasonable.)
