Roger, you want to see if you can update the name and site list and post it here, on Casita Club and Casita Forum?

LESS THAN A MONTH TO GO!!
Here are some thoughts for the upcoming Washington Gathering at Taidnapam.
Friday starting at 5PM @ a location to be determined, beer/wine/soft drink share HAPPY HOUR. A table or cooler set up with bring your own unique micro-brew beer, wine or soft drink. Not necessarily an “exchange” but a “share”.Also on the other end of the table some finger foods and horsedoovers. 6PM we will commence with the hotdog roast.Bring your own hotdogs to roast over the fire and whatever else you think you might want to eat. Don’t forget your hotdog sticks!
Saturday evening 6PM potluck & campfire most likely @ the same location as Friday evening. Main course, salads & desserts to share. For the dessert piece, think chocolate! A separate chocolate section will be reserved.
What to bring:
Tables
Paper plates
Rain shelters (just in case)
Firewood
Field Games (ladder golf, cornhole board, Bocce Ball)
Camp chairs
Leave your raincoats at home….you won’t need them.

For all newcomers, the uniform of the day is anything red & black Buffalo Plaid to be worn both evenings. Also, name tags are encouraged.

I know there is some musical talent amongst us so I would encourage you to bring any kind of portable instruments you can as well as your singing voices for impromptu jamming sessions. If all you can muster up is adding percussion rhythm by banging on the side of a propane tank with a piece of firewood, that will work beautifully.

A reminder that this is Free Fishing Weekend. No license required.I have seen some fishing reports from Riffe Lake that have been excellent but those reports are from boats on the lake. I recently saw a report that there may be construction on the Fishing Bridge at the park through May 31st but have not been able to confirm that.
Saturday evening after dinner, a raffle type gift exchange. Bring something to put in the box and you can get something in return.

Cool Activities from last year

"One man's junk is another man's treasure."

Bring along something for a door prize at the Saturday night potluck. Not a requirement. Don't buy anything. Just bring anything you have around the house that you don't need any longer. Something useful, funny, cute, or ??? (Nothing questionable, like old Playboy magazines.)

Don't forget, this is a NOG which stands for Non Organized Gathering.

If some of you have remote-control cars, we can have a race!

You still have time to brush up on your stories or jokes. (Clean ones.)

We haven't done a sing-a-long as of yet, but we may give that a try. Anyone else know the words to "Sweet Violets?"

We want to keep the activities in line with the principles followed on this blog.

A note on the beer exchange. Donna D requires micro brew but I don't think we have to limit ourselves. Just a six-pack.

Travel Hints:

From I-90 take Hwy 18 cutoff to either Hwy 169 to 410 or to 167 to 161 etc.
OR I-82 from Ellensburg to Yakima and then US 12 west.

If you are coming from the north, you can save 48 miles by taking WA 167 in the Kent Valley, to WA 512/161 turnoff following WA 161 to WA 7 to Morton, then left on US 12 for about 5 miles to the sign just past the overhead bridge. (Morton is 30 miles east of the I-5/US 12 junction.) It is a winding road, but very scenic. (No gas/restaurants past the Meridian Ave (South Hill) shopping area until Eatonville and Morton.) (60.3 miles)

AVOID I-5 THROUGH FORT LEWIS/MCCORD (JBLM) ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON!
It tends to become a very long parking lot!

Also from the north: we took this route home last year: Hwy 410 through Mt. Rainier National Park, (no admission req'd) to Hwy 123, to US 12 then west to the turnoff at Glenoma. (111 miles) A little longer, but no traffic and very scenic.

Google miles from Puyallup to Glenoma:
I-5/US-12 = 108 miles
161/7/US-12 = 60.3 miles
410/123/US-12 = 111 miles

From the east, take US 12. (Consider gassing up in Yakima on the reservation - no Washington tax.)

From the south, take I-5 to US 12 (Exit 68) then turn east.
(At exit 68 is Spiffy's restaurant - good food
and an Arco station where gas is reasonable.)

Whoooo-aaaaaa mama!
Whoever is responsible for this OUT-BLEEPIN-STANDING weather forecast gets a huge AFFIRMATIVE SHOUT OUT from us Whidbey Islanders. We are driving the SOB (aka "THE BEAST," a vintage 28ft Airstream moho) tomorrow, Thursday, June 4th. It's not shined up yet, but Simon recently installed a brandie new bamboo floor, and you can all come ooo and ahhh at it.
Look forward to seeing you!
Sharen & Simon,
along with True (the old golden) and Holly (the young "black Westie." Yeah, I know, there's no such thing, but she is 7/8 Westie and 1/8 an indiscretion, and utterly FULL OF IT!)

Hello - we are in the market for a fiberglass RV - have seen casita and escape, and would love to see a Scamp 13 or 16 or 19.

I will be coming along with wife Sunday afternoon (today) around 3pm to Taidnapam. Will scamp owners be happy to show us their RV?

Ash, we were there with our 13' Scamp but had to take off this afternoon to head back to Seattle. If you live locally and want to take a look at ours sometime I would be happy to arrange that. Enjoy the sun!
