Thank you Teri .
Tried hard to work around this, but no luck!
We are both going to miss seeing everybody, but there is always next year.

BTW:

RT is doing a great last minute job of putting this together. Hope he has some good volunteer help.

The Cherokee rally has been so lucky to have had Jean take the reins in 2012 & 2013. She is such a PRO at this type of thing, and made it look easy.

Lynne stepped up in 2014. She had not done anything like that before, and wasn't sure that she could pull it off, but willing to give it a try. She was a lot stronger and better than she thought. And that Cherokee 2014 was extremely successful. Also Jean was behind the scenes with helpful advice and the wonderful web page.

Now RT is at the helm and no doubt will get advice from Lynne as to what will and won't work. How to delegate, how to persuade HH for the Rally's best interest, etc..Therefore Cherokee 2015 will be a success.

Really going to miss ya'll !

No, Jean had other commitments and there has not been an official host. It was more of a get together than a rally until RT started posting and organizing. Maybe someone will start a Web page for next year?

Glad y'all were able to reserve 919.
Was a bit concerned that someone outside our group might get it.

Pot luck Volunteer

Hello to all. Volunteer needed.

The pot luck dinner we normally have on Saturday night is in need of a take charge person. The person who has graciously done this in the past ( Kip ) is not able to attend this years rally. We need a person to take charge of this important function. It has been an increasingly difficult job as the rally has grown each year.

We now have an overflowing crowd without enough tables and seating. I believe picnic tables had to be brought in from some of the camp sites in an attempt to accommodate the overflow last year.

Any volunteer's? (more than one would be a good thing)

Thanks

RT - you make the volunteer opportunity sound so enticing. Can you (or Kip) provide a list of what has to be done with regard to pulling the Pot Luck together? This will be our second rally so we don't have a lot of know how. We can do if someone else tells us what. I guess I'm saying we will definitely help whoever volunteers to lead.

Hey RT and Marti/Roy.
I worried for a year about the 2014 pot luck. Worried that we would have more people than room as the rally had grown to be so huge...but all that worrying for nothing!
Some people choose to not attend the pot luck...some don't like large crowds, some prefer their neighbors' company but we did not fill up all the tables on the porch last year. There may have been 4 to 5 tables that went completely unused.

We had requested that the campground move in the extra tables. I would think that they would do the same this year.

Last year A friend volunteered to buy and put some throwaway table coverings on the tables. She also made center pieces... They were lovely but if no one is interested, the pot luck will survive.

There needs to be a little organization around the food table set up...meats together, vegetables, deserts, ect. We have learned the flow to the tables needs to be longwise....not enough room across the top of the room.

People need to be corralled and not start until signal given. Announcements made and call for volunteers to help with straightening up. Dinner needs to be at 5 in order to get through to get the room cleared for karaoke. And that's about it.

I have volunteered to pay the 50 bucks HH is requiring for us to use the room...(and hoping to pass the hat to get it back) I plan to be there early to help set up and will help clean up....but don't plan on being in charge of anything else this year.

I am subscribed to this thread and see most posts...don't know how I missed the private message, RT.

Hello RoyMarti,

Thanks for the response.
I apologize for my lack of enticement We haven't attended this event the last couple of year's so really didn't know what went on. The last time we attended we were required to bring our own chairs. I think that has changed.
Please see Lynne r's Post#99
These things need to be covered:
1-a rough head count of how many are planning to attend.
2-arrange with HH to have enough tables. Maybe just ask them to fill it?
3-have someone in control to organize room, say the blessing, start and stop the evening and control cleanup.
4-we'll need some supplies like paper towels, condiments, trash bags.
5-pass the hat for the room fee and give to Lynne r.
6-
7-
I'm sure I'm missing somethings, please add any corrections.
