Hi Jim and Kathy,

Yes, that sure is the place. It's amazing what can be found and then see the actual spot on Google Maps. Look forward to seeing you there.

I currently own an R-Pod, which is fiberglass skinned. HaHa. But I have an Escape on order, due in November. I'd like to join in your outing. Perhaps on Tuesday 7/25.

You're almost one of the family! Dunno, Jim, should we make Jeff park on the other side of the road? Just kidding.

Hi Jeff,

Well, as a FG wana-be, we can let it slide this time providing you meet some provisionary terms: Have to arrive after dark and leave before sun up, must post a simulated Scamp or Casita decal on the side of your camper, and are responsible for bringing some of those Mexican beers Mike is hoping someone will bring!! Did I miss anything???

Btw, I will be in the 13’ Scamp that has the awnings on it. See pics.

There may or may not be others around when you arrive as they may be out hiking, biking or fishing or many other things. Just pick out a site, set up and others are bound to show up eventually, usually closer to evening and we can meet and greet then.

Jim

It's looks like the swiss army knife of awnings! I feel so inadequate...

Kay,

You saw humor in it and responded with wit. I will see my Scamp in a new way every time all the awnings are set up.

Only those who have seldom or never had an original idea, interesting question, new insight, or better understanding of something, and try to deal with it through negative comments about others need to feel inadequate.

Now how am I going to get that image out of my head!

Oh man, now I have to go back and re-read the entire thread to find the details on this Mexican beer request. And figure out how to cover the 3 ft r-pod logo with the much smaller Casita logo.

I am getting impatient having to wait until November for my Escape FGRV (or longer if hostile weather delays picking it up in BC). Not only am I eager to move from sticks to FG, but then I won't have to abide these ridiculous requirements!

I have no awnings, no rock guards, no shade of any kind. It's balder than Henry's head, and heats up like a Pacer Wagon (greenhouse effect personified). I have some old fiberglass tent poles that will become awnings for the side windows (bungees are our friends), and I may have to put some Kedar type rails on the front and back. ANYTHING to reduce the amount of direct sunlight that hits those windows.

I am envious of your awnings because I know the great job they are doing in making your camper more comfortable.

Yeah, it's not quite a Casita but it's smaller than a casa.

I'm starting to think about what foods to get and pack for the trip. Will probably bring a 6-pack of Sol. I prefer low IBU.

Jeff

Ridiculous requirements??? Huh, claiming to have an Escape on order! As if we hadn’t heard that one before, and recognize it for the ruse that it was. Thought you could evade the essential basic requirement and gain access to our super secret, high security meeting place didn’t you? Well that worked about as well as could be expected didn’t it!!

Just for that, you’re on double-secret probationary status.

You can make some awnings on the cheap. Tim (techfan) on the Escape Forum made some a couple years ago, and several folks have also made them. You need some "awning track" and some "awning rope", products which you can find on websites like sailrite. The track is a self adhesive c-channel made of plastic, and the "rope" is a plastic rod that slides into the track, and has a fabric flap attached to it for sewing on the awning fabric. Add to that some pvc pipe, some suction cups, and voila - awnings. And if you remove the side arms, they drop and cover the windows for privacy and to reduce light coming in during the early morning.

Sounds Good!

This view and climate sound pretty inviting when we are coming from TX. Hope to see you with our Bigfoot trailer. Any one else coming from TX?

Bob,

Coming to Colorado from Texas, eh? That can mean only one of two things. If it's winter time, they are here to clog up the ski slopes. If summer time, they are here to try to find those elusive, free dispersed camping sites!

Glad to have you aboard, and I can show you some more sites if you like.

Jim

Is the Turtlerock CG where the Buena meet is? I found directions for that. Can you confirm the site name? If I missed it in your post I'm sorry. Thank you!
