Water supply and dump site
Where would we find the closest water supply and dump stations? Does Buena Vista public works still sell water cheaply? We would be coming from the south and east.

Leaving Midlothian, TX Sunday. Will stop at Clayton Lake State Park, New Mexico. It's known for its dinosaur tracks. Monday we'll be on our way to Buena Vista!

There is a dump station north of Buena Vista in Leadville. Not sure what the cost is now, last I knew it was $5. I believe you can also get water there.
Not sure but I think you can also get water near the Buena Vista airport.
There are several private RV parks on the north side of Buena Vista that charge to dump.
Also south of Buena Vista in Poncha Springs, CO at the Poncha Springs Visitor Center
• Latitude: 38.522
• Longitude: -106.081
• potable and rinse water (non-potable) available; Donation requested $5.00 which is additional to what you pay at the dump station itself
• dump station is big rig friendly
• $7.00; required to swipe a credit or debit card; you need to have your dump hose all ready to go, because after you swipe your credit card, the locked cover to the dump hole unlocks, and you have only 1 minute to insert the dump hose; no receipt is given.
and at the Poncha Springs Sinclair Gas Station
• Latitude: 38.512
• Longitude: -106.076
• potable and rinse water (non-potable) available
• $10.00

You can get free water at the Loves Travel Center that opened in 2016 on Hwy 24 on the north edge of Buena Vista on the left side. They have a water faucet by the gas pumps.
In addition to the dump site at the Visitor's Center by Poncha Springs as stated by Thom, there is also supposed to be a free dump site at the Salida Chamber of Commerce, donation requested. Salide is just east of Poncha Springs on Highway 50. I am not sure where they are as I haven't used it, but it is supposedly listed in all the free dump station guides.
Bill,
Midlothian, TX???? Come on, there really isn't such a town as that now is there, you are just funnin' us aren't you. It sounds like lone of those towns that John Denver or Janis Joplin would say they are from and are never going back to.
If you are coming from the south on Hwy 285 you will be going through the Hwy285/Hwy50 intersection by Pocha Springs, and will also be close to Salida a few miles on your right.
See you perhaps Tuesday.

Things have come up for me... probably not going to make it there with my Hauley. I had my home's roof inspected, and I need to pay for a new one. $$$$$$. Y'all have fun though!

You are right about the dump being closed. Just called the Salida Ch of Comm; she suggested there are two in Poncha Springs.

Midlothian
Sorry to disappoint but Midlothian is a real town really close to Waxahachie.
Previously we have traveled Hwy 285 when we camped at the UFO Watchtower
(Hwy 17). The annual meeting is in 2 weeks but we're skipping it this year.

This rally just caught my eye. Hoping we can do it.
Can anyone tell me what the elevation at the site is? (Wifey is afraid we'll need to bring a generator for air conditioner.)

Elevation's approx 8,000'. Today WeatherUnderground sez BV is close to 80 deg F. Nights will no doubt be cool, though.

Reunion Buena Vista--double scheduled
Hi, we are disappointed but realized that we are double scheduled for this time not just once but three days. Rats! We will have to visit a fiberglass gathering some other time.
We'll be thinking of you in the cooler mountains as we bake in Denver.
Enjoy!

Thinking of driving down from Denver Sunday
I'd like to see a couple Escapes. I understand that a Scamp rally may not be the best place to do that. But it beats a stick built RV show.
I saw an Escape 17A (no bath) in Denver. The factory put me in touch with a 17B, but it was not accessible. I'd also like to see a 19'.
If you think you'll be there Sunday with your Escape, I'd love to hear about it.
Did I mention that I uh, have two Escapes on order? Correction, I have three Escapes on order, including the new 34 foot. It's like two 17s!
I may need to bring a lot of beer to convince you all. What kind? Corona? Dos Equis?

I really like the very slim, new to me, Corona Lite 12 oz. cans. Will be taking up less space in the cooler.
I'm an EX-Scamp owner so they might let me in, but Tom, I never pass up a chance to show off my 19. Current plan is to hit the dusty trail either Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. I doubt we'll be staying there until Sunday, though.
