Paul, I was replaying the weekend in my head and have to say, even though it was a long drive, it was a great weekend. Sure will try my darnedest to make it back next year.

Just trying to plan... I am new to NOG and WAG.. is the Maryhill event the same weekend every year? I have heard good things about it!

Bobbie, Paul, and all: agreed, thank you so much, good to see everyone, we had a good time, got to the observatory annex up at Stonehenge and enjoyed the presentation until we left a bit early. The guard told us the gate to Maryhill SP isn't actually locked, so that was good.

We survived our long trip though we came back 3 days early...between illness, Nimble's exhaustion, flooding, and power outage, we'd finally had enough...but we're already looking forward to other times.

Carolyn: Paulw and Norma's Maryhill event is the weekend before labor day weekend every year. So you're just ahead of "the season" and in some potentially reasonable weather. You can reserve a space 9 months in advance, I believe...come on over. Bear in mind, only a few sites really have useful shade...site 4 isn't one of them, really.

None are really "near" the restroom and there's only two paths to it so you're hiking cross country where not everyone "scoops."

The riverside sites do have fantastic views of trains, paddlewheelers, barges, fishing boats, etc., but not shade. Not any.

BEST

Kai, can i assume you meant to say "Maryhill event is the weekend before Memorial day weekend every year". NOT "Maryhill event is the weekend before labor day weekend every year",.

I think I meant to say, apparently my calendar and I have completely lost touch with reality, and I bow to all your correctness with humility!

Yes, the weekend before MEMORIAL DAY weekend.

Or was that the weekend before Thanksgiving? Or Easter Sunday? I've been in a 24-day time warp and seems like I've entered another dimension, a dimension of sight and sound, a dimension of mind (lessness)…

I even gave the wrong dates for our own meet, the SAFE at Dash Point. It's not October 31 or December 25, it's September 20 & 21. Or was that Labor Day weekend? Or WHAT? Sheesh!

Thanks, all!

Kai

The SAFE at Dash Point is not even September 20 and 21.

Is there no end to this confusion?

The SAFE is September 21 and 22 in 2018, Friday and Saturday.

No wonder I get other meets mixed up--I can't even keep track of ours.

BEST/WORST,
Kai

PS Maryhill meet hosted by Paulw and Norma was super as usual; we'll return whenever we can!
