We were on the road last week using our cell phone to book site A-12 for 3-9 June. Didn't realize at that time that there was more than one loop since the new "improved" website isn't very user friendly and didn't show the campground map when trying to book on our phone.
Based on your experience with the campground, is there a lot of walking involved getting from our site to the activities, should we try to move closer to the action?

No worries - we are on A5 (waterfront!!) I am sure this place will book out and there will be plenty of us in A loop - Not too far of a walk or bring bikes - we are bringing our electric bikes and kayaks so folks can come down and enjoy the lake if they would like.

Yeah, I liked the water site on A12. Guess we can bring our bikes and a tow rope we can tie to the back of your electric bikes.

I'm looking at making a reservation and I don't know this park at all.
Seems like quite a few sites still open, even in loop B.
So I'm wondering if anyone can make a recommendation, either for or against a site.
Still open in B are 4,7,22,23,25,27.

And how many rigs are anticipated?

Wish I could help but we've never been there. We ended up getting the wrong loop, A-12, so we may need to take a break at your campsite on our way to the activities if it's really far. Ours is on the water so we will stay there and enjoy the view, unless the water rises up to our Scamp like it did at Hiawassee last year!
Looking forward to seeing you and your new 17B.

I've changed my reservation. I'm now in site B36, June 3-9. Ben and I plan a few days for the caves; Mammoth and maybe Crystal.
And maybe just some time to kick back and relax.

We must first apologize that we have been lacks in our duties as host and hostess and not checked in more often to answer questions and update on activities, but to say things around here have been a little hectic would be an understatement! With multiple weddings, one child moving across the country, buying a new home and now having two houses to sell, our plate is certainly full of blessings!

The first thing we'd like to do is thank everyone for attending the rally, and to thank those who have answered questions in our absense. We tried to visit the campground in the fall, but they closed earlier than we expected. We are planning to visit the campground as soon as it opens for the season in May. We will gladly check out any sites or concerns you may be having.

Next, we need to inform everyone about information regarding the Green River Ferry. We have found out that the ferry is going to be closed for renovations soon. According to the people at Mammoth Cave the closing date is uncertain right now, but will most likely be closed by the time the rally starts. We will continue to check and let everyone know. If it closes before the rally, it may affect your route to get to Wax, and WILL add time/distance from Wax to Mammoth Cave.

We are looking forward to spending time with old and new friends. And to some much needed rest and relaxation, lol.

PS for those who are thinking of visiting caves other than Mammoth Cave, Cub Run Cave is definately worth your consideration.

Violet City Lantern Tour

This morning, I found that the reservation window for the Mammoth Cave Violet City Lantern Tour for Saturday June 8 at 2:15 PM is now OPEN.

If you have an interagency pass, make sure that you make the correct selection in the "Guests" pulldown on the reservation page:
