Pack a sweater!

We plan to arrive Wednesday, starting out tomorrow and spending the night at Lake Darling State Park , then on in to Pikes Peak SP sometime Wednesday. We don't mind the rain as long as no hail! Hoping the forecast changes to something a bit warmer...hard to leave very comfortable mid-70's when the crappie are biting here in Missouri 😉! We switched to site 32, so 53 is now open. If we all bring winter gear, maybe the sun will pop out and it will get warm...!
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Missouri Weather

Looks to me like your going to get ahead of what is projected to be some nasty weather in Missouri. Hope you enjoy your camping along the way. if your route involves being on highway 2 in Van Buren County you might want to visit the Store in Cantril Iowa or if you're by chance coming up Highway 1, Stop at the Stringtown store north of Kalona and or the creamery nearby, lots of goodies.
Watch our for buggies in Southern Iowa, also the area around Oelwein.

Postponing

We've decided to delay by a day coming. Rain, heavy rain and cold temperatures just don't add up for enjoyment. If it were in the 60's with rain, I'd do it....but 40's suggest being stuck inside most of the time. Thursday will be marginal, but drier and with improving conditions, I hope. Thoer has also postponed for a day.....Dave.....you have the campground all to yourself for hosting the attendees today.

stay warm

I spent last evening listening to Iowa Dave & Tennessee Bill swap tales about their outdoor adventures and exciting lives . All in all , even though there was a slight chill in the air it was a very entertaining and educational way to spend some time .

I’m putting up the awning, firing up the campfire in a can, and setting up the magnum chair. Hamilton Carhartt and I are about to hold court. Come on down

Pikes Peak rally

Beautiful day here in the hills of NE Iowa.
Saw a flycatcher and a Scarlet Tanager
Our host Darlene and her helper Corky have really put together a fun rally. Old Man River pizza for lunch in McGregor for some, just A date with Stella for others.

Well, it is a nice day today, but with the cool, cloudy and wet weather earlier we chickened out and stayed home. Maybe we'll see you all at the fall meet by New Ulm.

Great time!

What a wonderful several days in spite of the cool weather! Many thanks to Corky and Darlene for organizing the rally, to Iowa Dave and Rita for all the great advice on our Escape 21, and to the many others who shared ideas and became new friends. Truly a special experience in a beautiful state park.

Great park, lots to do in the area, more
food and drink than the Romans had at their festivals, and most of all two great hosts in Corky and Darlene. Hope to see everybody back next year. And yes there were empty sites this year so there’s room for more. Thanks Corky and Darlene for a great rally and thanks to all who dropped by to hear a story.

I stumbled on to the rally.

My wife and I camped at Pikes peak and quickly realized there was a fiberglass camper get together. It was great meeting everyone and looking at the campers. Awesome group of friendly people and we enjoyed our stay.
