Hungry Mother Rally

Hi Walt-

Eva and I are trying to decide what kind of trailer to buy. The fiberglass ones have really captured our interest. Particularly the Scamp 13 which we can pull with our Outback. But we really like the 16 so trying to decide what to do.

We really REALLY want to meet with some fiberglass camper owners and maybe actually look at the ones we are considering buying without driving all the way from VA to MN.

So, we will either be in a cabin or a nearby motel. Would love to attend the dinner on Saturday. We won't be able to get up there in time for the bike ride but can make it for the festival and dinner. We look forward to visiting with anyone who would want to talk to us about their camper.

So, two more for dinner if you have room.

Eva and Kirk

There will be at least one Scamp 16, layout 4 at the rally brought by friends that will arrive on the 24th. I'll have my Escape 21 next door...

We all like to show off our trailers and you'd be very welcome.

There will be many 17' Casitas and I think at least one 16', a 13' Scamp, 2 16' Scamps, a 17' Escape, a Boler (13' I think), Jon's 21' Escape, that I know of. Lots to see.

Saturday during the day would be the best time for looking at trailers.

I'll be calling the restaurant tomorrow and let you know if that's okay. I'm getting a bit nervous about the numbers. When I talked to them I was expecting around 20, give or take.

I just talked to the restaurant manager. Whoever I talked to last did not let her know of our plans, so she was a bit taken aback. No problem though, she talked to the chef and they can handle our expanded group Saturday. That's 34, including Evirk and partner.
One small change though. She said it would be very helpful if we could make it 5:30 instead of 6:00. That means we'll need to be on the road by 5:00.

I don't recall anyone mention plans to boat on the HM lake but am passing this on just in case.

Walt

Hungry Mother State Park has begun lowering the lake level for their bridge construction project. Boat rentals have been suspended for the rest of the season. Boat launching is still available from limited locations. The project is expected to be completed before Memorial Day 2020. Please check the park's webpage for any updates. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Unfortunately, due to a death in the family, the couple that was traveling with me (a Scamp 16) will not be able to attend the rally. I will be canceling one of my non specific site reservations for the 24 - 27th Monday morning at 9:00.

Walt - that will be 2 less for the Saturday dinner.

Walt, a funeral in PA Monday has cancelled our AL rally plans, so on our way back from PA Marilyn and I will now be able to stop by on Wed, Thurs, and Fri nights in our Scamp 16. Looks like we have site 31s.
If it's not too late, can we get two added for dinner, and one for the bike ride?
Thanks, John/Dave and Marilyn.

Hmmmm. I'm not sure about changes in the dinner numbers but I'll call again tonight and see.

Troxels: Do you want to join in the dinner as well?

Radar1: Should be no problem for the bike ride and I'll let you know about dinner.

Walt

Hi Walt:

I understand that you keep the rally pretty simple, so I just wanted to confirm that the Saturday dinner is in lieu of a pot luck dinner that was originally planned and that there is no dinner activity (pot luck) planned for Friday night now. We are working on our menu planning for the outing...for the meals we need to prepare ourselves.

Thanks,
Don

That's right Don. At the end of the rally last year we decided to try this route because there is no building, or even pavilion to provide cover for a potluck in case of inclement weather this late in the Fall. At the time we had planned on the restaurant in the park but they sabotaged that by deciding to close earlier.

Hey Walt!
I'm already receiving private emails from attendees that are at Hungry Mother and having a great time before the rally officially starts!

My schedule won't allow me to attend this year (bummer to me) but I'd love a digest follow-up of the event from you or any of the attendees this year with a few pics for The Roost.

You put on a splendid event and I want to help you keep highlighting how awesome it is. Would love an emailed follow-up. Y'all have a grand time for the event.

Cheers, and enjoy the bike trail!
