2019, Oct 24-27: Fall Rally at Hungry Mother
Every year I wonder how many folks will chance the weather this late in the Fall, and every year I'm happily surprised. So here we go again.
We did decide to move it a week earlier this year. Hungry Mother State Park has a very good restaurant but we've been missing it because it closes at the end of October. We decided to move the rally to the last weekend in October and reserve a dinner for Friday night. If we have 20 folks sign up I think I can get us a private dining room and a very good price. I'll be able to confirm that sometime in March.
We usually have about 14 rigs and 20+ folks, including quite a few regulars.
To make reservations, ask for Camp Burson, which has water and electric hookups. Some sites also have sewer hookups at a small premium. Hungry Mother is a beautiful lake park with great hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulties. There are also many nearby attractions and eateries and rally participants seem to all have a good time.
With fall leaf colors getting later every year, we had some beautiful scenery in '18 for an added attraction.

Reservations at
https://www.reserveamerica.com/explo...40174/overview
Hungry Mother is the name of the park, and the Specific campground is Camp Burson.
Any site will work, but we tend to cluster in the 5 rows with site numbers in the 20s through 40s. See the site map.
I hope to see you there.
Walt

The Roost featured this rally in last November's issue: https://mailchi.mp/ac29e96a062f/the-...er-2018-events
That should give you more info.
Walt, I'm putting the 2019 rally on the map today.

Thank you.
Folks, that article is very complimentary, but more important it's very informative about things to do in the area. A good read.

Site #45
I have reserved site #45 and I'm looking forward to another trip to Virginia for this fall rally to close out my RVing for the year.
And count me in for the dinner!
Is anyone interested in bike riding the Creeper Trail? Last year it kind of vaporized because the weather was cold & damp. If anyone else is interested, I'll bring my old 10-speed along......

Glad to know you're coming Larry. I hope to have details about the dinner soon. And I always bring my bike, just in case. But as always, the Creeper Trail ride will depend on the weather.

Looks like a nice place. We will be at Davey Corockett rlly so itt's not far away. I'm confuswd on the cmp sites. I followed you link to reservations and ig the Hungry Mother /state Park, but can find no mention of Camp Burson or the site numbers 20-40 you mentioned.
What am I doing wrong?

Try this link
https://www.reserveamerica.com/explo...ate=2019-04-01
Basically if you go to campsites, then standard electric, then all shown are Burson.
Hope that does it for you.
