6 months out …. you can register for your site at Algonac!

This year the 6 month mark falls on March 6.
You can adjust the date you register depending on when you plan to arrive.

Woot! Woot! Woot!
Is this scramble at the same place each year? Same time?

Yes it is MudFrog. It's always on the weekend following Labor Day. Always at the North end of Algonac SP CG and next to the St Clair River. It's always fun too!

And what Algonac event would be complete without revisiting Scouter Dave's sweet and sea-salty poems. For those of you who have not met Dave, he is a wandering minstrel of poetry, prose, and tall tall tales. Once you meet Scouter Dave, you never forget him. Some year he may get a chance to pass by us again, perhaps even this year. Enjoy.

ALGONAC 2012
(C) David J. Shaw 7 September 2012

On St Clair shore we gathered,
An assortment of eggs without crates.
To share and compare and tell stories,
From Canada and the United States.

Some rigs are lit up like Christmas,
With L.E.D.s, lanterns and signs.
And many have dogs in the trailer,
All sizes, all colours, all kinds.

Our Trilliums are not flowers.
Our bolers are not hats.
The Scamps are not mischevious.
And the Burro’s not really an ass.

The Captain is here from Poland.
But the Captain’s not really in charge.
And Humpty’s not the Egg Camper
Tho’ it is quite round and quite large.

La La land sent the Casita,
From the coast with the sunshine and wine.
But I still think the best trailer,
Was the Trillium that I call mine.

The Pot Luck spread was delicious.
With food I’d never tasted before.
And some that I did not recognize,
But I still went back for more.

So Campers, let me say thank you.
For the food, the friendship and fun.
My first Rally is just now a memory,
But it will always be number one.

ALGONAC 2014
(C) David J. Shaw 5 September 2014

There's a motley crew on the riverbank,
Watching the ships sail by.
Are we jealous of the voyagers,
Would we really like to try,

A life at sea on a rolling deck,
With a plaintive seabird's cry?
Or the pulsing throb of the diesel
And a star to steer her by?

We have no need of salt and spray,
Or briny, roiling foam.
We have wheels and rallies,
To lure us from our homes.

We sit and watch the vessels,
As gracefully they glide,
Along the St. Clair river,
Without a wind or tide.

A motley crew, as I have said,
But friends who think the same.
In fiberglass we roam the roads,
Gathering once again,

On St. Claire's shore at Algonac,
To meet and greet once more,
September month in Michigan,
Two zero, one and four.

This is great j Lynn as I won’t be able to make it as I am out in LA with a big push to release the HCT but Bryce should make it back in time for at least Saturday. Hope you have a great weekend

So many thanks to all the people who lend a hand and help make this a top notch event every year!!! I am so grateful for this people who step in and help at the pavilion with tablecloths, food tables, and cleanup at dinner. First and foremost, thanks to D.j. Weatherbee who is our golden voice announcer as well as providing me with a steady influence when those ‘squirrel’ moments come upon me during pot luck! Farmer Doug who went through the red tape needed to make sure we had the state park’s blessing for our table sale, which was a big success. Karen Lertola Chalmers with the dinner prayer, and. B Jo Ann Mundy who finished things with some beautiful music. Charles Rose payed the picnic shelter reservation fee this year and is also covering the reservation charge for next year as well. So many others have supplied ideas and input as well. This event is a success due to ALL the members.
WE ROCK! Thanks so much again and we will see you next year!

I am (unfortunately) at work right now so I will upload more photos later tonight.
