2019 Sept 6-8. The 8th Annual Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble
Another fun weekend ahead for us all in 2019 at Algonac State Park!
Our campsite MAP and a link to state park reservation website is in post #5,
2019 is the 8th year for the Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble!
Dates: Fri Sept 6-Sun Sept 8.
(But we always seem to arrive sooner and stay longer than these dates and that's ok!)
Overall Agenda-ish:
Friday night meet and greet at my site at 7:30
Saturday night pot luck at 6:00-ish
- Time moved up half an hour to gain daylight
- Bring a lantern or candle holder to 'light up' your seating area.
Prize Draw after potluck. Bring an unwrapped prize and we will draw site numbers for winners
As always, lots of free time to visit and explore.
NEW - We will be having a trade and swap at the shelter in the afternoon! See post #51 for details! Bring stuff to sell, or just bring cash for buying!
NEW - For those like me who have never made it to the local museum, a group trip up to see what's what up town might be fun.
NEW - Thursday Night Dinner - Who might want to make a trip up to one of the riverside restaurants for a nice meal?
There is a Facebook group for this rally as well. Just ask to join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Mich...acEggScramble/

Good question!
I'm guessing it will be held in the same campground as years past, so I'm pinning it on the rally map at Algonac State Park. If it's a different location, then there will be a lot of confused campers.

That looks like an interesting place, right next to the river between countries.
Michigan USA to the west, and Ontario Canada to the east.
would be able to watch the ships sailing between Lake Huron and Lake Erie.
Too bad it is the same weekend we're having a Scrambled Eggs gathering at Flandrau St. Park, in Minnesota.

Here is a link to the State Park website. They are now taking reservations for the Algonac weekend: https://www.midnrreservations.com/home
Rally Dates Sept 6-9. But many of us come 1-2 days sooner, including me. You can also stay longer, make a full week of it!
Rally Agenda is in the first post in this thread.

I'd just like to point out for anyone who does not like large crowds, Algonac State Park has a separate campground, the Wagon Wheel. It is in very easy walking distance of the main campground on a trail through the woods. The sites there can be a bit more private and spacious (not all, but some). When I go to Algonac outside the rally time, this is my preferred site. It is away from the river and the road so less noise, but no views of the boats either.
I understand that for most, being within the group is the main attraction, but for some of us introverts there is another option. It is still a state park campground, so not real seclusion.

Totally agree Lyle. People are welcome to camp wherever they choose. But who wouldn’t want to hang out with all of us FGRV lovers and omg the freightors are right at our front doors (LOVE)

Where is Algonac, you ask? (Ok I guess no one asked, but here’s a map anyway ) itson the eastern most edge of the thumb of Michigan, right on St Clair River. The river is a prime location to watch freighters that travel the Great Lakes from Chicago all the way out to the St Lawrence Seaway. Check out BoatNerd.com for more fun freighter facts.

Camping season registration is in full swing for the Michigan parks.
6 months out …. you can register for your site at Algonac!
This year the 6 month mark falls on March 6.
You can adjust the date you register depending on when you plan to arrive.
Woot! Woot! Woot!

Rally Dates Sept 6-9. But many of us come sooner. I will be coming in on Wednesday Sept 4. NOTE - You can reserve 6 months ahead of the date you want to camp, and many of us do that so we can get a specific site. Riverfront goes fast.
6 months out from Friday 9/6 will be 3/6, so mark your calendar! Come on over and join the relaxation and fun. Its a very low-key rally.
FYI, the state park website has been updated and even if you already have an account, you will need to 'set up' a new account in order to reserve. I used all my same info from my old account, and set up the new one. Then, its just a little learning curve to get yourself registered. There is also a number you can call if you prefer.
The Map is in this post, and I will update it with names and site numbers as we reserve.

Dave & Paula Brown will be in site 64 with their Lil Snoozy
