But no matter what, We can still enjoy being at Algonac, and there will still be freighters and fireside visits.
On the bright side I wonít be in LA the some time as Agonac ,on the not so bright side we may not be able to get across the border anyways

Yep, Mike. I totally understand. This year has been difficult.
I also hear that there will likely be a 14 day quarantine once you get back to Canada from the US campground, which will pretty much shoot the fall camping in September. So much as I will miss all of my Canadian friends at the campground, I want everyone to stay safe, and enjoy the fall camping times to the max.

Check out post #1, we have a 'Rona adjustment to the Agenda.
New map also posted. The Glassic Scramble is still ON, but we all need to take certain precautions. Stay well, happy camping, see you in September

Well we could all talk politics, religion, and sex on Friday night and pretty much insure plenty of social distance for the rest of the weekend. Of course the duels with wiener forks at the campfire can be something of a health hazard. But if the participants have been hitting the sanitizing alcohol hard and no one points them in the right direction the duels can be amusing and low impact...

The plan was to continue on to the Niagara Escape Rally the following week, but that's looking very doubtful now. The border may not reopen by then. If not, I'd welcome some suggestions for something else after Algonac.

Geeze, thanks for the encouraging information Steve. What a mess.

If the Mississippi was a week earlier it would work well, but not as is.
I'm hoping I can locate just a really nice campground for the next week somewhere between Algonac and home for a few days.

We just cancelled our reservation for the Algonac meet today. Doesn't look very promising for any cross border trips in the near future. Hope you all have a good time and stay safe.

Walt, I remember you enjoyed western New York in trips past so a re-visit might appeal to you. Also, Wright's Cherokee and Falling Water in western PA but you have probably done that. The Flight 93 memorial in Shanksville, PA is worth a stop.

Thanks Jack. I need to look up Wright's Cherokee. That's a new one on me.
Hope you are doing well.

Ricketts Glen State Park is my favorite state park. 21 waterfalls along 7 miles of trail. 2 campgrounds, dry, but bathrooms with hot showers.

Don't drive in from Red Rock south of the park unless you want to do a pull test of your tow vehicle - 3 miles of 18% grade. Some photos.

Sorry Walt - It's Kentuck Knob, not Cherokee, I was thinking of close to Fallingwater.

Oh, yeah. I've been to both houses there. Quite impressive. Lots of other good sights and hikes there too. Thanks.

Site vacancy

I think site 132 may be available soon. If the border opens up, we are not going to quarantine for 2 weeks!!!!!!

Site 61 is now free if anyone wants to change sites. Canada/US border crossing doesn't look promising by September.

The word we got last week from a somewhat reliable source in Manitoba is don’t count on the Canadian /US border to open before sometime in 2021
Canada appears to be in no hurry to bring the US covid outbreak farther North

Our August Nova Scotia trip is now postponed until next year. The campground folks called yesterday and said that they also do not see the border open until 2021. And even if it were, Nova Scotia requires a hard 2 week quarantine that is checked on.
So the bucket list trip to Steve Chapin's campground at Ovens Natural Park to see the Harry Chapin family concert is now 2021 and let's hope for a vaccine by then. At least this gives my broken foot additional months to heal that I might be able to enjoy the beauty of the park, instead of avoiding difficult walks because of my hobbling around. At least Algonac is flat.
