Another Hungry Mother Gathering has come and gone. There was a good turnout and everyone I talked to said they had a good time.
As always there was a good mixture of regulars and newbies and I made several new friends.
Although the weather was pretty sketchy this year, we again managed to hit the peak
fall color week and the maples were spectacular. Unfortunately, like last year, COVID prevented a dinner at the Harvest Table Restaurant. The good news is they plan to reopen in January and so there's hope for next year. Also again the park was unable to offer a group bike ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail but a few did it on their own. Hopefully we can renew that offering also next year.
The biggest disappointment for me was having to cancel the Cowboy Stew and SUMI salad dinner Saturday due to the weather, but everyone was supportive and good natured about it. Several commented "If you can't handle occasional bad weather you probably shouldn't be camping."
A few of us discovered a new pottery shop in town where the Potter put on an entertaining and informative demonstration.
I'll talk a bit about plans for next year in a new thread.
