WA | 2024, May 31-June 2: Washington State Gathering Taidnapam

OK campers, it's time to sign up for the annual Washington Gathering also known as WAG @ Tacoma Power Taidnapam campground. This year we will be starting on Friday 5/31 and winding up on Sunday 6/2. Some folks hang around another day just to chill out and you are all welcome to do so. You can find the campground information here: https://tacomapower.goingtocamp.com/ and there will be more information to come. As usual, we try for the newer 200-288 campground so try your best for one of those. This is a very informal gathering rather than a "rally" and everyone is welcome. More to come as we get rid of winter and head on into summer!!

Bringing this back up to the top..... Don't wait until the last minute to make your reservations for Taidnapam!! Let me know which site you will be in so I can keep a master list. I just got word that Don & Jerry from Idaho won't be making it this year as Jerry is having knee surgery. They have been a fixture at this gathering for many years and will be missed.

Getting closer to the WAG at Taidnapam and the numbers are growing. By my count I have 9 campers signed up. I'm sure there are still spaces available so if you know of folks who have not signed up yet, give them an invitation. Of course the weather always plays a big part in how it all goes but here's the plan so far and it doesn't vary much from past years. Friday night, campfire/hotdog roast. Saturday night campfire/potluck with chocolate as the dessert theme. I think we will try to have a camping item gift exchange with numbers drawn from a hat. Be on the lookout between now and then for unique items. As always, Buffalo Plaid clothing of any kind is the uniform of the day. If rain is in the forecast, large tarps/rope or pop-up shelters would be very useful. Don't forget your firewood for both fires if you have some and hotdog/marshmallow sticks. Play it by ear when it comes to bringing your dogs to the campfire gatherings as sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. Be prepared to share your latest camping experiences with the group. If there are any other ideas for what we might do this weekend, please let me know and if anyone has questions, PM me. Looking forward to this gathering and am hopeful the weather will cooperate.

So here we go, looking forward to seeing you at Taidnapam this coming weekend. Weather is looking OK but not great so be prepared for some periods of rain late Saturday and into Sunday. A short list reminder of things to bring:
Firewood if you can
Buffalo Plaid hats, shirts, socks, jackets
Camping related gifts for the draw by numbers gift exchange Saturday evening
Good stuff for the potluck
Tarps or popups in case of rain
Don't forget your name tags too
