Adrian and myself have made reservations for Thurs. ~ Sunday. Found it odd that they say you have a river site but cannnot give you the site number? Lady says day of arrival they give you the site number, never came accross that before.
Looking forward to seeing all these home on wheels. What do you bring for the Saturday get together? Is the meal/gathering just munchies or do you bring your main course and a side to pass?
Well I'll just have to wait and see, Hope everybody arrives safe! Regards, Suger

The campground assigns your site when you arrive. The potluck Saturday is a "Country Cooking theme". Just bring a dish of your choice to share.

Yes, there is a grocery store in Townsend just a couple miles from the campground.

Chestnut Top Hike
Oh my goodness. I researched this and it is an 8.6 mile return hike with over 1,000 feet elevation gain! Another place I read that it is 2 3/4 miles until it tops Chestnut Top.
Not all is lost for me. I also read that the first half mile is where wild flowers are found. Looks like something for everyone.

We will be doing the bourbon tour before we arrive on Thurs. Decided to take the long way out from NY.
There are all the modern conveniences in Townsend and surrounding areas. That includes grocery stores, and lovely shops.
Another great trip/hike is Cade's Cove which is a drive through with stops for hiking and photo ops. It's a short trip from the campground.
We are looking forward to this years Eggscursion. We stayed closer to home last year and missed or southern friends. We're glad to be heading south this year for a fun weekend!

Chestnut Top is the hike were have scheduled for Friday, 2 .75 miles. Its a moderate hike and you can go in only as far as you want. Just remember that whatever you wake in you have to walk out the same distance.

I know Sheryl posted on the Egg Camping Club site, but I'm going to post here as well for the husband. Any of you musicians out there who are camping with us, please bring your instruments. The evening jams are open to all and very much enjoyed even by those of us who don't play, but like to listen. Don't be shy. All levels are welcome and it's great fun. If you're a music spouse like me, bring your knittting and enjoy the jam.

Sue,
A musician I am not, but a knitter I am. I do love to listen to music and knit. I am hooked on sock knitting, but perhaps someone will inspre me with their project to change. See you soon,
Kathy

Spring is here and everything is blooming in Tennessee. I'm so ready to go camping.
Here is a little info about how we do our Rally.
The Eggscursion Rally is hosted by the Egg Camping Club of Tennessee, Alabama, & Georgia and is one of our yearly regular campouts. This will be our 5th year in Townsend and all campers are invited to attend. Two of our big attractions are the people who attend and the Townsend area -- Townsend has tons of terrific attractions within a short drive. When planning the Rally schedule, we leave lots of open time so campers can venture out and enjoy the area without feeling like they are missing a camping event. We schedule most of our socialization events in the evening when people have finished their daily adventures - sometimes it's a potluck, other days it's an evening get together with music and stories. We tend to be a little more laid back then most rallies, but our campers tell us this is one of the highlights of the Eggscursion. Also remember that all events are optional and the only mandatory activity is relaxing.

Kathy - where in NY are you from? I assume the Adirondacks from your handle. We are just south in the capital district. It's nice to see fellow NY'ers making the trek.

Sue, I live in Blue Mountain Lake in the hearrt of the Adirondacks. I lived for many years down near Greenville and worked in Albany. Retired now and my '72 Boler is my first big project. I hope to have some pictures soon to share. It snowed here this morning, hopefully will warm up so I can get to the inside projects.
See 'ya in TN?
