It is exciting to see all of you signing up to come to the Cambria Rally.

We have a good chance for awesome weather. May is a good month for cool, clear nights and warm, sunny days.

Costs for camping will be:
Friday and Saturday nights $35
Add Sunday night $10

Saturday night dinner $12 per person
(last year we also had a full catered dinner that was really good.)

The camp has added a new activity building right next to our camping area which will be available to us, in addition to the dining hall and lodge room. The Yoga ladies will not be there this year.

Other activity options:

Hearst Castle tour Several different tours
IMAX theater at Hearst Castle I can get discount tickets
Wine tour We have some very nice boutique wineries
Farmers market Friday afternoon in the 'center' of town
The Hamlet Restaurant or Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill
either of these might be good options for a Sunday night dinner for those who stay

Any other activities can be paid for when you get here.

I got an email from Lori. We attended last year and had a great time. I'm double checking the wifes's and kids' schedules and will confirm ASAP.

We were up in SLO county over the M.L. King holiday checking out Lake Nacimiento & Paso Robles. We enjoy just driving around the area and hope to join the rally.

It's been a while since Tarona and I managed to join in any organized activities; our last Egg Club Outing was the Midwinter Warmup in Death Valley...back in 2004?

We towed our Burro over to the coast in October, with the intention of spending two weeks. Tarona's Mom fell and broke her leg, so we cut off the second week so T could go stay with her Mom.

We stayed in the FamCamp at Vandenberg AFB, near Lompoc. It was $9.00 per night with full hookups, $7.00 a night if we registered for a week or longer.

We drove up to Cambria while we were there; that's where I slipped and fell in the parking lot at Moostone Beach and shattered my pelvis in November 2004. That break still hasn't healed, and they can't operate, so I'm a lot slower than before!

The whole Central Coast area around Cambria is REALLY nice. I'm not familiar with the campgound you're planning to use, but it sounds great. :-)

We'll look at our calendar and see if the proposed dates work for us. We just don't get out enough and this sounds like a good outing!

BTW: Has anyone suggested a trip to Laughlin, to stay in the Ramada Express parking lot? It's dry camping, but it's free. There are also several regular campgrounds (that cost money) and have some amenities. Dry camping doesn't bother us in the least. Lots of stuff to do besides gamble. I like to sit on the River Walk and watch people. :-P

Carol - Not hiding, just having a tough time with my health. We're going over to Las Vegas next week, sort of trying things out to see how well I hold up. We're using some free hotel rooms this trip, but if I make it through a week there with no problems, I should be OK for the Cambria trip.

This is shaping up to be a great group coming to Cambria.

Nick and Marlene - What a long trip, all the way from Texas. We sure are looking forward to seeing you again.

There is still room for more trailers. Anyone else ready to sign up?

Jean&Paul of Fresno gave us the link to your "Rally". We don't pickup our Casita until 20 Mar.....and haven't made any plans for after getting home. So would like to make a "reservation" now, and make the final decision after 2-3 of April....if thats OK.
Cambria would be our first "outing". We would stay for all 3 days and have the Sat. dinner...look fwd to meeting other campers.

Howdy,

This sounds like a great first dry camping trip with our new trailer. I have a 4 and 5 year old, can they split a single dinner plate?
