It's 102 here in the Central Valley today so I'm ready to hitch up in the morning and head to the coast. I plan on getting to Cambria by lunch time and hope there's parking downtown for my trailer/truck. Forecast on national weather service for Cambria is calling for chance of showers 20-30% so bring a jacket. See you all there. Mike

I talked to my mom in Missouri on Saturday she was horrified to have to pay $2.56/gal for gas.
I think of it this way: Living where gas is most expensive means that it is cheaper to go camping than to go to work!

The pre-load out process has begun! The Odyssey & The Eggstacy will be hitched and spend the night on the launch pad, all systems go for a morning count-down.

This subject has sure gotten quiet. Has everyone left for Cambria already? How many trailers are going so far?
We have 21 trailers and 44 people. I’ve been gone all day.

I know the Texas folks are on the road and getting close. I talked to the Mi Wuk Village folks last night and they too are on the road.

The weather has gotten just perfect. Man the sunsets are going to be outragiously Good. I am so ready for this break. Tonight is pack up night.

See ya tomorrow, 1pm

We are packed up and ready to pull out.

The weather report this morning says “Possible Rain”. WHAT, on my parade? It made the news because it is so unseasonal.

Yep, possible sprinkle tonight and 50% chance of rain (1/4 inch) on Sunday. Boy that would be a ‘frog strangler’ for us.

But guess what? Clouds mean GREAT Sunsets. Bring your cameras.

See y’all there,
Mike

WIFI works great in downtown Cambria. It's sunny today and everyone having a great time. 21 trailers in the camp. A nice camp fire at night with plenty of free wood to burn.

What a lovely little camp! It's late at nite, the fire has died down and folks are just now wandering back to thier rolling condos.

The weather has been quite pleasant, foggy in the am and day time just about perfect. We had a young couple drop by to see all the trailers to see if they could tow with thier Element, so we had "outsiders" venturing around being fascinated by all the glass.

No "Official" trailer tours, just folks wandering, yaking and being casual.

A group of us went and toured Heast Castle today. What a puney little house with a pathetic view (*smile*)

Dinner was a fine spread and you couldn't beat the view! We are sharing the camp with... get this.. a Christian Motorcycle Gang. (Yep, really!) All very polite guys with purdy motorcycles.

If the cell signal is stable enough, it is real touchy here, so I don't know if a pic upload will fly.. I am gonna try.. Here is a pic of the spread and location.

Mike,
Thanks for the report! Even a few raindrops won't dampen your rally! We can only imagine the sets.
Good job, Gina. Your camp photo is great!!
We're wishin' we wuz there
Our week-end just has to make do with a graduation at Guide Dogs of the Desert in Palm Springs, and the Iris Festival in Yucaipa.
By-the-way, you'd asked awhile back about the Regional Park in Yucaipa and friends stayed there last week. It's pretty much packed during the summer, but it would make a great rally spot, off-season. Fishing lake, lots of trees, long pull-thru's big enough for 3 or 4 TT's without unhitching (but the first one in will have to be willing to provide taxi service!), hook-ups, several golf courses within 5 or 6 miles, museums in the area, etc.

Thanks again for sharing about Cambria!

well, as nice as it was yesterday, it is as equally ICKY today. It's raining cats and dogs, and quite a few have flown the coop, but a few of us remain. They people at this camp are VERY nice and allowed us to use the lodge, so we are all holed up next to the big stone fireplace, and playing games.. talking. (What a concept) VERY cozy!

There are a couple of trailer laeks, but no one cares!

A few of us are in our trailers cooking Musgo. (The food in the fridge that Must Go) and we are doing a pot luck of whatever anyone has.

We are having fun feeding the fire, watching the big seals thru the spy glass and warming our backsides.

Mike did LOTS of pictures, I will let him post 'em cause he is much more thorough than I. While he is working on those pics, I will be stealing his dog. I love Buddy.. he can come around anytime!

Cell signal is still sketchy.. not quite sure why it works OK sometimes, and sometimes not.. but ... who cares? LOL!

Hi all, thanks for a great rally. We are sorry we had to leave on Sunday but ran into some problems. Sunday morning just after the rain started our Fiber Stream slid off its jacks and rolled back a few inches crushing the cheap plastic chocks I had used. I decided to just hook it up and go to more level ground for the rest of the day but was told as I pulled out of my spot I had a flat tire. Well, the spare was low on air but after putting in some Flat Fix it seemed to look OK so I thought it would just be better to come on home. I wouldn't want that tire to be flat tomorrow morning when we had to be out. Much thanks to Ron my other Fiber Stream buddy for changing the tire. I hope to see you all soon and I plan to get ALL new tires ASAP and keep a better eye on the spare. I am home and the spare held up just fine. Thanks again, Ken Hildner , 1979 Fiber Stream

It is good to hear that you made it home safely. I also had to leave, and we are also home now. Woke up at 3:30 AM to the first sounds fo rain, then a solitary gust of wind "snaped" the awning (like an adolescent would snap a towel). There was no damage, and I decided to prevent any, so I got it rolled up and secured for travel right then.

[b]3 Fiber Streams together at the same rally!

I am not much of a picture taker; but I think it was Pete who said, "Even if you don't know how to fix something, just have the parts and tools on hand, so anyone who happens along with the skills can get the job done." My friend Greg borrowed my camera & took these pictures...

My Odyssey is to the left, with my Fiber Stream in front of it. This was taken on Saturday afternoon.

The Dining Hall building has a deck overlooking the ocean. Greg took some pictures through the large binoculars permenently mounted to the deck railing...

Unhappy

Timed exposure shot of the campfire from the other side of the campground.
This is an optical illusion... The trailers ARE level, it's the ground that slopes!

Thanks for a great weekend. The weather couldn't have been better at least until Sunday morning. After the big rain started we decided to head out. We met some really nice people this weekend and really enjoyed seeing all the different trailers. What a great location. This was our very first fiberglass rally and hopefully the first of many. Ellen and I really enjoyed ourselves. By the way that picture above sure shows a good view of the Scamp. Hope to see everyone at the next campout.
