<span style="font-family:Comic Sans Ms"><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%">Cambria, CA FiberglassRV Rally</span></span>

The dates are set for May 19, 20, 21 2006

Once again we were able to get Camp Ocean Pines over looking the Pacific Ocean. We have confirmed the dates and will be camping in the open parking lot.

This is dry camping. We had 22 trailers last year and there is room for up to 35 or 40 trailers, so space is limited.

We will be developing the activities and options as y'all let us know what you would like to do again this year.

Please let me know if you plan to attend.

One of the things we are kicking around is maybe touring a couple of the Boutique Wineries in the area.

Heast Castle and Hearst Castle Imax theater is also in Cambria. We could make reservations if there is enough interest.

Other things in the area are:
  • Morro Bay
  • The Embaradero
  • Linns Fruit Bin (popular Ollaliberry Fruit Stand & Gift Store)
  • Cambria down town shopping
  • Strolls along the beach at Moon Stone Beach
  • See the famous Cambrian Harems (Elephant Seals Rookery)

OK, I am game.

I am not a winer but I love old houses. Hearst Castle probably hasn't changed since I was a kid, the last time I was there, but what the heck!

I just moved from Cambria. I worked there as a Paramedic for years. When I retired I moved inland a ways. Camp Ocean Pines does have a nice view. On Fridays, there is a Farmers Market which starts at about 3:00 in the large parking lot of the American Legion Hall downtown. Linn of Linn's Fruit Bin has been selling tri-tip, ribs, and chicken with bread and salad, pies, etc. at the farmers market. There is also other treats ready to eat and early Spring vegetables. There is an ATM right next door at Mid-State Bank and Trust.

The IMAX theater is located at the Hearst Castle Visitors Center which is located at San Simeon.

Ragged Point Inn Restaurant has good lunches and dinners and a spectacular view. It is located North, up the coast (HWY 1) about 35 - 40 minutes towards Big Sur. The drive is worth it as the scenery is fantastic. It is a close outing if one has not seen that stretch of the coastline. The Hearst Ranch is still almost all open space with no development.

I’ll have Lori log in and give the details.

The Camp has a 5 star chef that would just rather live and work in Cambria then somehwere else. She cooked one dinner for us last year. Oh man, it was a great buffet. We can also have a breakfast if we want.

What I’m saying is the camping fee is one fee, if we decide to have the Buffet dinner or breakfast, the would be a little more. I think everyone that went last year did the dinner and were very happy.

PS: As a group, we also went to Brambles for one dinner.

We also had a very nice time last year and the buffet dinner was fantastic. Dogs were fine on leash and there are dirt roads and trails aplenty for walking them. There is a great little dog park on the south part of town for off-leash fun and hanging out with the very friendly Cambria locals. If the weekend is too short a stay, one of our favorite State Parks is just up the road near San Simeon. The beach there is often practically deserted during the week and within the park there is a great 4 mile hike up through the pines with great views of the coast and Santa Lucias (watch out for Mountain Lions). We would love to go again this year!

Put us down for a temporary yes (don't you hate that!). I'm awaiting a surgery date also...hopefully it will be in the distant past by May but knowing how the medical field works who knows?

I'll confirm for sure as soon as I know more!
