Fall campout in MI
There has been some interest in an Oct. 03 campout at Harrisville State Park. I'm interested as a goal to use to get my "new" 87 Scamp 5th wheel cleaned up & ready to roll. At this point we're looking at the 10th, but that could change as we get closer due to color progression. I can't leave it up in the air too long, but by the end of Sept. we ought to have some idea of the color. I'd be interested in getting a group together to go canoeing/kayaking down the AuSable River. Jim, you started this thing and I would love some more input from you. Steve, are you with us? Any other fall campers out there?

I'm there. Harrisville is on my "must visit someday" list and this would be a great excuse to check another park off my list. I have an old kayak I haven't used in awhile so maybe I'll load it on as well.
I still have some vacation to burn so my plan would probably be to scoot up Thursday from work, leave Monday. Whenever I can, Monday departures seem to make things easier, from visiting the dump station to traffic.

I made reservations for the 10th. While they don't accept site specific requests you're encouraged to provide preferences. Only 2 sites (of 190+) reserved as of this morning.

MI Campout
So, Steve, did you give a site preference? I wasn't even sure we would need reservations. If we can't be site-specific, how can we make sure we're all together? Larry, are you going to make your own reservations? And where is Jim who started this whole thread originally? Did he disappear with the original thread? I'll call & reserve tomorrow.
I got my hitch and Prodigy controller installed today so I'm getting closer to getting my 5th wheel. Sure wish I'd sell my Class C motor home. I could enjoy this process a lot more.

I just made a reservation on line for 4 nights beginning on the 9th. I did not know of a previous thread by 'Jim' as we have been out of touch as recently returned from a ling trip to Alaska. In the preferences box I said that we prefered a level site between 140 and 150.
Here is a copy of our reservation.

Okay, I'm official with my reservation. I will probably not make it till Sat. A M. I get out of work at 5:00 & will get as far as my friend's at Higgins Lake & make the rest of the trip early Sat. It will be my first camping trip with the Scamp & I don't want to try backing & leveling in the dark the first time.:u I will stay till Mon.
I think I have located the missing Jim & have e-mailed him to see if we can get him back in the fold.

Michigan Camp
:wave We are both VERY interested in coming to the rally, but won't know until that week if it will be possible for us to join you.As much as we've been enjoying this extended period of retirement internship, it really is time to find :bh JOBS again. Please keep us updated with plans as they progress. The canoe trip sounds good, as long as it does NOT include any white water:sick - our little yellow canoe won't handle it well being a very light weight :banana FIBERGLASS :banana baby.
Here's to good weather:sunny and good times:cheers

G.P. & G.D.
Hope you can join us. If we do any canoing/kayaking on the AuSable, it will not be whitewater. It is a beautiful river. I'm not sure of my kayak situation yet (how to get it there as I have no racks yet) and I will have my dog with me so I wouldn't want to be gone for too long but it would be fun.

Will be looking forward to meeting you. We used to live in TC. We both attended NMC in the 60s and Teddy's family own a cherry farm in Leelanau County. We visit there often, passing through Mancelona every time.

Kent,
Would sure love to have you. As with me, this could be the motivation to get your rig rolling. I'm looking forward to lots of advice on improvements.
