New Dry Campers

We plan on being there on Friday. This is our first dry camping adventure so I'm sure we'll have lots to learn! Generator (new, never used) water conservation tips, power conservation tips, etc, etc. Sounds like alot of fun, see you all there!

David - You didn't say what brand your gen was. Just a heads-up. When I got my brand new Honda 2000 gen and brought it home it would not start. I tried everything and finally decided to read the manual - it's a guy thing, I know. Anyway, the Honda has a low oil shut off. I thought, "That can't be it - it's brand new - should have plenty of oil in it." So I looked and sure enough there was oil in it. Still didn't start. So - what the heck - I'll put more oil in even though it looks full. Bingo! It started right up. You ought to give it a trial run before you leave home. Easier to troubleshoot at home than in the middle of the desert in QZ.

We are new to the group and to fiberglass trailers. We are planning on attending this event, gathering, group, shindig or what ever its called

We plan to arrive on Friday afternoon and depart on Sunday. I have read about the soup party for Saturday, but I have another question.

Is there any type of additional registration that is required? Or do we just "show up"?

Any rules as far as where to park within the group? Don't want to step on any toes at my 1st gathering.

Welcome Dale and Jodi
No registration just show up. As far as parking, it's where ever you want. During the daytime, we try to "greet" people when they pull in if we can. We will try to give everone a name tag. Name tags are the only formal we do at this event, it's just about having fun.

Free Camping at Quartzsite BLM Land
Many of us just show up. It's no big deal for 3 days on a weekend. If I were going to stay for 1 or 2 weeks, I would consult with the hosts at the east end of the Dome Rock area near town.

Hello George, Betty, Doug and Michelle,
Sue A. Here, and planning on attending the Feb. Quartzsite gathering. I took
a lot of pictures of all of you last year, and even printed them. I will bring them
and you can take which ever ones you want. From the posts listed, it sounds
like there will be quite a gathering and it will all be great.

I am interested in Caravaning this year, if anyone is comeing from Oregon or No. California? Luke and I enjoy RVing solo, but I thought it might be more fun caravan this year. Everyone Drive Safely.

Good news for those coming from the east. There is an In N Out in Casa Grande! Exit 198 about 1/4 mile east of I-10 on the north side. Ate there today, Yum!!

Hi Folks.... we popped out to Quartzsite (Dome Rock area) today (Monday) to visit couple Casita friends who were part of a small rally there over the last weekend.

Now... today that south side of I-10 has plenty of RV's (still lots of space available)......but my question is.... How do I find YOU guys (FIBERGLASSRV) crowd?

Do you have a banner or something to identify which batch of RVs you are? There are literally dozens of groups gathering in that 3-7 mile stretch west of Quartzsite on the south side of I-10.

By the time the Gathering is held, there are far less people there. As far as seeing the group, it's hard to miss a whole bunch of little white eggs. In the last 3 years we have held this gathering, nobody has failed to find us.
Aprox 2 miles east of Dome Rock Road and 4 to 5 miles west of Quartzsite.
We'll be looking for you.

Joe,
One reason why there are soooo many people is that the RV show starts this weekend. And that is why there will probably be less there the weekend of the Gathering, the show ends Jan 30.

George and Wallo..... thanks for the prompt response. I appreciate knowing that there will be lots of eggs on the desert floor. Today, there was only one lonely egg there..... I drove by (went the entire length to the Interstate entrance) and came back..... decided to stop and ask "If by any chance were you part of the Casita group that camped here last weekend?".... turns out they were<grin>.... had a very pleasant couple of hours chatting and hope to meet up with them again down the road (they live in S. CA).

Hello from Colorado

Orlen, Carolyn and Radar the guard dog are planning to attend. Don't know if we'll come early, stay late or just breeze through for the weekend. We plan on combining the Quartzsite trip with a visit before or after with our son in Ft. Mohave.

We stopped by last year in January for a recon trip so we're semi-familiar with the area.

We are planning on a quick trip to Quartzsite on Jan 29 for a couple days. I'm very interested in "doing something" about solar.... just overwhelmed with info about it (read lots of stuff on FiberglassRV and Casita forums plus various Solar websites. The more I view and read the more confused I get<sigh>... Only so much battery space in the Casita.

It will be great to meet you and possibly have a look at an Eggcamper. Robert will be with me on this trip.

This meet is something I might be interseted in going to next year, but have a question. I have a porta-potti, is there any bathroom facilities there? I can't tell when I see the shots of the layout.

Thanks

Sorry, no bathrooms. However, several trailers, Casita and others are the standard models and get along fine with just a porta-potti. Please do come and join us next year.
