Cool

My Fiber Stream is presently stored in Quartzsite. I left it there January 16th because I got an offer I could not refuse: A full exterior detail for less than half what it would have cost me in San Diego!

Would there be any interest in my bringing a pair of portable scales and doing my weigh-in thing? I could do it the same way I did it at Lake Casitas.

The 15 minute procedure will be:
  • You hitch up to your tow vehicle, releasing stabilizers and chocks
  • I place the scales just in front of your trailer's wheels
  • you drive onto the scales (about 1 foot forward)
  • I record the wheel (axle) weights
  • You back off to your original position, Chock your tires, and Un-Hitch
  • you level up, but DO NOT set up stabilizers
  • I place a scale under the tongue coupler
  • You raise the tongue jack so the coupler is on my scale
  • I record the tongue weight
  • you lower the tongue jack, and reset stabilizers
  • I remove my scales

I would definitely be interested. Just so you don't ask ME to step on the scale.

If it isn't too much trouble, I would like to have my Scamp weighed. I'm sure it is under the 2400# that is the limit of my Subie, but I'm not sure of the hitch weight.

Yes. This is the first time we would be weighed with all travel stuff aboard. I am afraid my second hitch jack will put my tongue weight over, however.

We are marking time in AZ in anticipation of this event.

We will be leaving immediately after. Need to be back in WA by the 19th.

Really glad you're going to make the gathering. Looking forward to meeting you.

BTW, there may already be a couple of people there. Heard Ranger Duke and Bev from Texas were coming early and Bud and Carol "The Mother Ship".

Anybody attending interested in an informal presentation of amateur radio with an emphasis on portable operation while camping? I'll be bringing a complete HF portable station to Quartzsite and could set up a real time demo.

We took a ride up Dome rock road today but saw only one fiberglas rig ( a 16' Burro). No one was around and we think they are not Fiberglasrv people due to their location.

We will be there on the 9th as we have gotten the previous three nights in a park free.

Currently we are in the "scenic road rv park" here on Quartzite. We will be here until the 6th. if anyone wishes to drop by for a chat or a game of Mexican train we would be delighted.

Hi Roger, Shirley and I are at Citrus Gardens in Mesa, AZ in space # 45. (Actually we are in Scottsdale now taking care of my elderly Aunt but hope to be back there Monday or Tuesday). We are planning to pull up and go to QZ on Thursday for a few days, then probably back to the RV park for a week or so. Then, back to Aurora, Colorado. Where do you live in Mesa and when are you planning to go to QZ?

Orlen, it will be nice to meet you too, and everyone else of course.

I think I'm going to be there, I bought the 72 boler in Cali and I will be picking it up Tuesday. I talked to the lady today and she said that she was going to clean it up some so I could camp on the way home, well a little detour and I can stop at Quartzsite, yee ha.

I was planning to leave Missouri tomorrow but the weather is just not cooperating. The roads are clear now but my driveway is not and it is 500 feet to the road (and my trailer is aimed the wrong way). Several things to finish in the morning and the Weather Channel just now predicted another foot of snow for Oklahoma with some here and in north Texas starting tomorrow evening. Hope to at least be there by Saturday but we’ll see.

I will be bringing an ATV and a friend is loaning me his metal detector. I want to try some “nugget shooting” in the dry washes this year.

We are presently in Yuma, biding time until Thurs when we will tour up QZ way!
We haven't been home yet this year! How is that for endorsing long trips in an egg.

PS: John ?kowski, if you read this we didn't get your name nor your number. We requested them both from Tom.

Robert and I plan to leave San Diego by 0800 hours, and stop for lunch and errands in Palm Springs around 11. We hope to arrive at Dome Rock by 1500 hours (3:00PM). The Fiber Stream will already be there Thank you Gina!

Come see me at the Fiber Stream to let me know you want to be weighed. Make sure I fill out a form for you if there's a line, so I won't forget to come to your trailer! Honestly, sometimes I have to put my mind on a Leash!

I hope to do most of the weighing on Saturday.
