Brad,
Naw, you don't want to do that. You'll find that this group is so nice and friendly that you'll want to be identified with us all. Ha Ha.

Hi Brad and Janice
Lori's got it right....
Hopefully you will like getting to know everyone and nametags can sure help. You can sneak a peak at the nametag when you don't remember someone.... We all do that!

I reserved #19 for Oct. 25-29.
(I haven't told Steve we're going yet, so let's all keep it a secret.)
Only two of us, but we're willing to lead a bird walk at some point. Or a couple of walks. Or just an afternoon sitting watching what flies by.

Steve and I would be glad to lead at least one birdwalk.
Saturday morning before breakfast would be a good time to walk around the campground, maybe around part of the lake looking for whatever is there. (End of October we should see birds which are either late passing through on migration or which have moved in for the winter.) We'll know better on Friday.
Also, maybe Friday night we could take a stroll through the area with deeper shade and oaks and see if we can get some owls to talk to us. (I figure Friday might be quieter than Saturday night as far as campfire noise goes.)
And of course, we're always willing to play 20 questions about birds you see or hear....
Looking forward to seeing you all!
Marian and Steve

Thanks Marian and Steve for volunteering to lead a walk or two. Friday evening might work out real well for a night walk and also Saturday morning.
Friday night we will have a campfire going and as everyone arrives, bring your hot dogs and roast them over the campfire. A great weekend start to get to know each other and no worries about what to have for dinner. Any salad or chips would be welcomed.. This isn't a potluck - just a hot dog dinner. Then take that night walk with Marian and Steve or sit around the fire and chat...
I believe the hot dog dinner will be by Maggi and Wes in space 44 .. around a blazing campfire by Wes.

Actually, it's not Eileen with son, Andrew, it's Lisa, with son Andrew, and possibly a friend of his.

BASS campground is full..
We're usually pretty solid on our reservations for the rally. Very few cancel in our group.. However, there are several (about 30) more campsites that are reserved by others not involved with us - hopefully they will be the ones to cancel.
If anyone else want to join our rally, please reserve in Egret campground... at least you will have company. If you reserve in Egret - please let me know by email, and you might be able to move to BASS if there is a cancellation..
Please -- If anyone does find they are not able to keep the reservation, please let me know before you cancel.
Thanks, Carol

FYI
Meteor Shower ends October 25th. Those of you at Lake Casitas may have a chance on seeing it.
Dave
From http://skytour.homestead.com/met2007.html
ORIONIDS (maximum October 21 [broad and irregular])
Moon: Waxing Gibbous (minor interference)
Best viewing windows: Saturday, Sunday and/or Monday mornings, October 20-22. 2am - 6am local daylight time are the best hours as the radiant is highest then. Other mornings in the period of October 17-25 may also be productive. The Moon sets earlier during the first part of the shower period, allowing more dark-sky time.
Recommended for: Anyone interested in meteors.
The Orionids are capable of producing interesting activity from October 17-25. Maximum rates seen from a dark site may reach 20-25 per hour, but sometimes there are lulls even around the traditional maximum of October 21. 2006 gave us a huge surprise with rates more than double those expected for several mornings around the peak. What, if anything, this means for 2007 is unclear. Any given morning session may be more or less interesting than expected. In any case, clear mornings during the activity period are always good times to look for meteors from dark sites.
The Orionids are fast meteors, perhaps a bit faint on average but capable of producing fireballs. The 2006 outburst featured brighter-than-normal Orionids. Note that the radiant is north of Betelgeuse and not right in the middle of Orion. A minor shower called the Epsilon Geminids has a nearby radiant that can cause confusion, but usually produces only 1-2 meteors per hour. Early activity from the Taurids can produce a few nice, slow meteors from radiants farther west. Finally, 5-15 sporadic meteors are usually visible each hour from dark sites.

Please remove my son Andrew from the reservation--but don't remove ME! Can you believe it? My 16-year-old found something more exciting to do for that weekend! Unfortunately, it's going to cost me money!
