Lake Casitas 6th Annual Rally .. October 25 to 29, 2007.... (California)

We are again returning to Lake Casitas for our 6th Annual mini-rally. The weekend will be October 25-29. Jim and I will arrive on Thursday October 25th and will check out on Monday the October 29.

NOTE: (You can make reservations up to 180 days before the last night you want to camp .. in otherwords, Jim and I are staying Oct 25 thru the 29th so 180 days is by Oct 29)...

Phone ASAP on/or after May 2nd for good spaces. … as of now the entire BASS campground is open. $30 a night with hookups (without hookups $19/night) plus a non-refundable registration fee of $7.50... (If changed or cancelled, A $5 fee will be charged).

To receive a refund, a 72-hour notice is required for any cancellations made to your reservation.

Check in time is 2 PM. Check out time is 12 noon.
On weekdays, the latest time you can enter the park is 9pm.
On weekends, the latest time you can check in is 10pm.

Ask for BASS campground. To reserve your space, phone (805) 649 1122......
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 3:00pm.

Please let me know if you make a reservation. You can post here or email me.

They only have one phone line - it's a problem... but the only way to reach them is to start dialing and when you get the busy signal, just hit redial, and keep redialing with no breaks - should take about 5 to 10 minutes and you will get their answer machine - hang on and someone will answer......

This will be a relaxed rally. No Potluck will be planned. Friday night, on arriving you will find a campfire where roasting hot dogs over the fire will be Friday nights dinner for anyone who would like to join in. Bring your own hot dogs, chips etc. Everyone will be on your own for dinner on Saturday. An appetizer to share before dinner and/or a dessert to share after dinner would be appreciated.

If you would like to set up something like: solar demonstration, free or for sale camp items, Dutch Oven cooking, games, etc. Please feel free to do so – I’m open to any ideas you have.

(Lake Casitas is in Southern California between Ventura and Ojai)…

From the north: Take the 101 Freeway to Highway 150 East in Carpinteria. Continue on 150 to Lake Casitas.

From the south: Take the 33 Freeway North to Highway 150. Turn left on Highway 150 and continue to Lake Casitas. The course is on the right after Bryant Road

Carol and Jim,

Lake Casitas, huh!! I don't think I've ever been there. I might have driven through quite some time ago but I'm not sure.

Lily and I will be there. We will come in on Thursday also unless I decide to get there sooner. We'll leave Monday as well.

See you then if not sooner.

I'll put it on the calendar and try to get reservations. I've been to Lake Casitas, to watch rowing for the 1984 Olympics. I camped in my former fiberglass camper (a Snugtop shell on a Toyota Pickup!)

We got 4 nights, space #51. It didn't take very long as I called around 8:45 am today (Wednesday). We will bring wood and Chris would love to do some Dutch oven cooking if the group is going to plan that again. Just let us know. If there is any added $$$ needed, please let us know. Ken

I made our reservation for Friday and Saturday this morning. We'll be in Space B45. Tao opted for shade rather than the pull-through...now that he can back the trailer up!

Say, I'm coming from the North and would like to come down Highway 33 through Taft and Maricopa and on into Ojai. I have never been on this road and would like to know if it's OK to go over pulling a trailer. It looks like it winds quite a bit just above Ojai. I can see Pine Mtn Summit at 5,000ft on the map. I know if there is any type of weather in October I would opt for a different route. But, if it's an OK road to pull a trailer on and the weather is great I'd just as soon take it into Ojai.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried using it as a short cut to Kernville a couple of times and a couple of times just for the fun of it. Make sure you have plenty of fuel before starting.Very hilly, sometimes no traffic for hours and no cell phone reception. And like all my short cuts, it takes longer than going around......

I tried it once as a short-cut coming from Fresno. Same experience- took longer than going around!

And I didn't have a trailer.

Hi Mike

Here are three more to add to the map...

40 Bill and Gisela
44 Maggi and Wes
46 Dave and Elizabeth

I would add the names but I can't edit the map.

Thanks
