Lake Casitas 5th Annual Rally .. October 27 to 30, 2006....

Jim and I have found several people interested in returning to Lake Casitas for our 5th Annual mini-rally. The weekend will be October 27-30. We will arrive on Thursday October 26th and will check out on Monday the October 30. We will try to reserve a space between 41 and 60.

NOTE: Phone ASAP on/or after May 2nd for good spaces. Lake Casitas won’t take reservations for this weekend until May 2… so as of now the entire BASS campground is open.

They only have one phone line - it's a problem... but the only way to reach them is to start dialing and when you get the busy signal, just hit redial, and keep redialing with no breaks - should take about 5 to 10 minutes and you will get their answer machine - hang on and someone will answer......

This will be a relaxed rally. No Potluck will be planned. Friday night, on arriving you will find a campfire where roasting hot dogs over the fire will be Friday nights dinner for anyone who would like to join in. Bring your own hot dogs, chips etc. Everyone will be on your own for dinner on Saturday. An appetizer to share before dinner and/or a dessert to share after dinner would be appreciated.

If you would like to set up something like: solar demonstration, free or for sale camp items, Dutch Oven cooking, games, etc. Please feel free to do so – I’m open to any ideas you have.

(Lake Casitas is in Southern California between Ventura and Ojai)…

From the north: Take the 101 Freeway to Highway 150 East in Carpinteria. Continue on 150 to Lake Casitas.

From the south: Take the 33 Freeway North to Highway 150. Turn left on Highway 150 and continue to Lake Casitas. The course is on the right after Bryant Road

Carolyn and I will be in Bass-57, same as last year. FYI I was only able to register for OCT 27 and 28. I can't register for OCT 29 until tomorrow (MAY 3). Looking forward to another great time.

I faxed in my request. There is a neat site where you can see the individual camp grounds. I chose 47, 48, 49, 46 and so on in order. I'll call Monday and see what I got!

We plan to come Friday AM and stay until Sunday afternoon. We are bringing 2 kayaks. We have kayaked there before and always wanted to camp here. So now we will!

Jeez, I really had trouble! First, they "never got" my fax. Then, they hung up on me after waiting 10 min. at 8AM. So, after tennis, I called again, and my first 6 choices were gone. We are now in space 42. They charge $2.50 a night for a dog. $4 a day per kayak, so $16 for the weekend to bring kayaks. I'll think about it. Anyway, the good news is we're signed up! So see you all in space 42.

Hi Francine...

Sorry that you had problems. We have never tried to fax.. I always phone and just have patience. I sure hope you aren't discouraged from coming. They have always charged for pets and boats etc... Space 42 is really a nice corner spot. You will be right next to the road to take your Kayaks down to the lake.

We made our reservations today and we are in 58. We had no trouble getting thrrough to reservations since we went there!

The lake has filled up and there were quite a few fishermen out. We enjoyed a nice quiet picnic and enjoyed the scenery.

I would consider NOT coming up highway 150 off of the 126. Highway 150 is down to a single lane in many places between Ojai and the 126 and so there are numerous construction delays. The situation might improve by October.

Great... I'm glad you didn't have trouble getting through the phone lines.

Thanks for the heads up for Highway 150... We are hoping by October things will improve.
