Linda needs to bug me to bring my old postcards... I have a black hole where my memory chip used to be.

Peeps?

Don't forget Dallas!

We just returned a few days ago from Bandera, Texas - the Bluebonnet Rally was great fun. After the rally we went to San Antonio - the Riverwalk was fun and the Alamo very interesting to see. We saw two movies at the IMAX - The Alamo and Lewis and Clark Expedition. It was a 3 week trip. (Did good on gas - once we left California... Twice we got 22 mpg .. but we only went about 57-60.. )

But now we are anxious to pack and leave again for Lake San Antonio.. On the way we will stay May 6 and 7 at Morro Bay State Park. If anyone wants to join us. We will be in campsite 14.

See you all there.

Thanks for driving up there Mike! I'm waiting to hear from my friends if they'll be coming for sure and I'll let you know. Will we be doing anything like leaving the campground or our trailers for long periods of time where dogs can't go? I'm trying to decide whether or not to bring my pain-in-the-neck dog. She suffers from separation anxiety and I've never been able to leave her alone in the trailer. But she loves camping and seeing other dogs.

Turns out your Tent Friends only need to pay for the extra vehicle. As for the dogs, they need to be on a leash at all times in the campground.

Our dog is fine in our truck or in the trailer or with us. He can’t stand being left alone outside tied to the trailer. He whines, and whines. (still haven’t got him to learn how to really bark yet.)

I know you’ll make sure your dog is not a problem for your neighbors. Does that answer your questions?

Can you give us a brief rundown of what will be going on when? I don't want to scroll through 10 pages! Dutch Cooking Class? Movies? Potluck? I forget what else might be going on... Thanks! Seems like I heard we should bring firewood--or not? What else?

If anyone coming up from anywhere close to Riverside is willing and able to bring me up a large tub (5 feet long, 2 feet wide, 1 foot deep) please PM or email me. You could pack stuff inside the tub but it isn't brand new so might not be spotlessly clean. It's very lightweight, however. (Turtle tub, not a bathtub!)

I'm doing a dutch oven demonstration for 80-100 people this weekend in the High Sierras.

Next week I plan on focusing on the schedule for the Rally weekend. Events will include movie night(s), happy hours, pot lucks, dutch oven workshop, trailer tours, plus time for hiking, reading, lake sitting, napping, visiting, games, more eating, etc.

Does any one know how to play Pegs and Jokers?

I'll send out an email to everyone who has signed up and also will post here.

Can my cat play with the turtles?

I can probably bring it for you as long as it isn't gunky. Where in Riverside?

I'll find out.

The turtles are too small for cats...

Is there no internet access at all in the campground? Any nearby? I need to tell my students whether I will be accessible by email that weekend. Does anyone know if there is T-Mobile cell phone coverage?

I downloaded the rules and how to make a board. Interesting.

And Mike said Verizon gets good service at the campground. Last year, Gina downloaded pictures of the campout from the campground so there shouldn't be any problems.

My verizon was just a hair over dial up speeds, but it worked.

I’m pretty sure that ATT and T Mobile will NOT work up there. San Antonio Lake is Verizon country.

The T-mobile map shows coverage in the area but as the campground isn't marked on the map it is hard to tell if it would be covered. So who knows? Well, those students had better start studying now so they can ask questions and not wait until the weekend before the exam!

Bobbie, Here's a website that will assist you in finding free Wifi so you can stay in touch with your students. At the website, in the box to the right, type in California and Paso Robles and it will provide several free Wifi locations. Paso Robles is about 30 miles away. Happy emailing :>)

Thanks, Steve, but I'm not traveling any distance to get to WiFi, I just want to be able to tell them if I'm out of touch, and it looks like I'll just tell them I won't respond to emails on the weekend so ask all their questions before Friday.

That's a nice site, though, thanks for posting it.

We are so excited. Only seven days until we leave. We figure it will take two or three days to get there. We are going to crawl along as slow as we can with gas prices here in Oregon $3.65.
