We are so excited. Only seven days until we leave. We figure it will take two or three days to get there. We are going to crawl along as slow as we can with gas prices here in Oregon $3.65.
|
Well, you'll have to crawl slower the closer you get. By then they'll be over $4 here.
Crazy.
I'm really looking forward to it, too, can't wait.

Bring your wallet to California. Gas is over $4.00.

Bobby, you live in some of the lowest priced gas in the state.

I just saw on TV that gas is expected to be $5 a gallon by June, in California.

Sadly true, it is probably well over $4 in the bigger cities. But every time I turn around it is more. $5 a gallon probably means this is the last trip the trailer takes to Washington- after this year it can summer in Fresno without me. Unless I find a good hybrid TV.

Washington is 1200 miles from here. At 12 miles per gal. (I get more then that) that is 100 gals. $4.00 a gal equals $400, and at $5.00 equals $500.
For $100 that is not going to stop us. Just gotta skip a couple of Americanos and not eat out so much.

One of the benefits to being retired military is that I maintain my on-base privileges, one of which is discounted fuel. I filled up yesterday (Sunday, April 27th) on the 32nd street Navy Base for $3.75 while the in-town price was $3.93.
We have also re-prioritized our spending. Instead of replacing our totaled 2nd car (hit-and-run while parked on the street in front of our house), we put the insurance settlement in the savings account. Instead of commuting in the Odyssey, Robert keeps it at home for his use, and I commute in an employer supplied vehicle. We will attend all the rallys we presently have reservations for, but will think hard about committing to new reservations.

How many people are bringing dogs? If there is any interest (and there would be a place to do it) I could bring some small basic agility equipment and let people try it out (on leash.) Or I could do a workshop on clicker training. (Works for cats, too, but you might not want them to mix with dogs at the workshop!)

Sounds good. Let me talk to Lori.
Do you have any ideas how you would like to see it worked out? Please PM me.

That sounds interesting. I wonder how Buddy, the wonder dog, would do? He's sorta like me, a couch potato.

You'd love clicker-training- you can lie on the couch and do it! (If you are patient.)

Hi Fred
I hope you still have Lake Casitas on your agenda. We will be having the rally again this year.

Bobbi,
I'm interested in anything that has to do with dogs! I plan on bringing the unagile Jobi, and the new bouncy puppy. I have a clicker somewhere, I'll bring it.

If you don't find the clicker, don't worry, I'll bring clickers. What you do need to bring is small, quickly eaten treats that your dog likes. (Cut up cheese works, or hot dogs that you slice and nuke until they aren't juicy, or Charlie Bears, something good and quick to go down.)

We have been working on some options to have fun together. Lori has the Schedule and will share it.
I talked Lori into a Special treat for Firday. (more to come)

Yeah, if you can stand to have them around. I can't. Plus I like to eat the dog's treat if he isn't paying attention to me.. and I don't eat liver!

Hey, if anyone wants to bring two related photos (like two Christmas photos or two photos from a vacation or two photos of grandchildren), I'll bring supplies to make quick stand-up decorative displays called Story Cards. Quick, easy and fun!
