May 18-27: Trails, tales, tunes (Newfoundland&Labrador)

I hope this is the appropriate forum for this.

The TRAILS, TALES, TUNES Festival, Norris Point, Gros Morne Nat'l Park, Newfoundland & Labrador, May 18th. - 27th. has posted the 2012 schedule on its website www.trailstalestunes.ca
There will be snow in the hills, whales in the bay and hospitality all 'round.
VOBB radio will be on the air during this time and it can be found via the internet [somehow].
Check it out. It's gonna be a time..... D

What a great festival! I have to do some mapquest to see how far it is from me in NY. Any campgrounds you would recommend?

I did move this to Rallies. Now all I gotta do is figure out how to get the system to tag its location properly.

Trails, Tales, Tunes

NYC to the border is 550 Miles, via Boston & Bangor, Calais.
Border to North Syndey, NS is 740 KM [460Mi.] The ferry ride is 100 miles and takes abt six(6) hours. You will need another 4.5 hours from Port aux Basques to Norris Pt., 350 KM [220Mi.]
There is a KOA listed in the Accommodations schedule and there is a private CG in Rocky Hbr.
Boat reservations should not be required but it is always wise to book ahead if you can. 1-800-341-7981 and you have to pay up front with a CC but they have a pretty good refund policy if you cancel in time.

If I can help with your trip, if you are wise enough to make it, let me know.

Hi CB. Glad to hear you are interested.
The closest campground is the KOA listed for this area. It is not listed on the Accommodations list now but there is a festival event there this year. There is another private campground in Rocky Hbr. and Berry Hill campground is part of the Nat'l Park. One of them should be open. 1-800-563-NFLD will put you in touch with the tourism office and they will send you maps and info on the area. The festival runs from the 18th. to the 27th. Check the schedule of entertainers and pick your dates if you can't stay for the whole event.
I will make some calls and check on opening dates for campgrounds. Stay tuned. D

KOA is a real nice camping with... WiFi! :-)

We went to NFL 3 years ago. It's the first? Let's settle for the second best place to go in Canada (as Quebec is the first :-) ... ) Superb nature, extremely nice people. We will surely go there again for at least another month. On the other end of the country, the Rockies are there and also a fantastic place to go.

Festival underway

The Trails, Tales and Tunes Festival is officially underway.
VOBB [Voice of Bonne Bay] is now on the air. A volunteer-run radio station that features festival guests, local talent and info on events and activities. I will be heading to the west coast on Tuesday for for a 6-day stay. No trailer though. I've got a room at the hostel. Hope to be on the air sometime during my stay.
If you google VOBB and follow the first link you can pick up the broadcasts via the net.
Check out www.trailstalestunes.ca for more info on just what you are misssing.
Maybe I should organize an Eggstravaganza for the festival next year....

There is a KOA located on Spirity Pond. Probably listed as Rocky Harbour, NL.
