Question May 25-27, 2012: EggFest 2012 Kingston

Is anybody interested in a meet and greet for "eggs" on the weekend of May, 25, 26 27 in 2012 (the last weekend of May or the one right after the long weekend here) near Kingston, Ontario? All sites would be serviced and it would be handy to the highway 401.
If there is any interest, let me know and we'll get the ball rolling.

"you build it and they will come" sounds like a great way to kick off camping season 2012.

We might be! But we're getting married in July, so money might be a little tight...and we might be a little busy!

What a wonderful idea, and it would only be 8 hours...the little boler could do that.

Talking Sounds like fun

We have family in the Kingston area so I think we might be able to make it.

It's a possibility, what campground were you thinking of?

Will do. Just check here in about 2 weeks and I should have the information ready.
So looking forward to this. We had to miss both Ontario bolerama and Quebec bolerama this year, so want to make up for lost time next year.

We might be interested as well. Not a bad drive from here in Upstate NY. We'll be watching for the details.

It's On!!
We are doing a meet and greet the last weekend of May (25, 26, 27) next spring in Kingston, Ontario at Rideau Acres Campground. They have a rally Field just for this kind of thing and each site has hydro, water and picnic table. Go to www.rideauacres.com to book in the EggFest area. Then you can let me know at layneparkin@gmail.com. They have somebody in the office all year round so you can book through the winter.

I hope to have a blog up and running shortly but in the meantime, three of us are already booked. You can book for the Thursday and stay over to the Monday if you wish.

There is much to do in the Kingston Area and the campground has a full range of activities. We will have an area for bonfire and sing-a-long on Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday night there will be door prizes and a 50/50 draw to cover our costs - so no registration fee to attend the event once your camp fees are paid. We would like you to come and sign in under our banner however, so we can say hello.

Looking forward to next spring already.

Hi,

Thanks for your initiative. At our age you never know this far in advance, but, put us down as a definite maybe.

Thanks guys, appreciate it and hope we can all be there next May. I am hoping this thing will develop a life of it's own however, so should I travel off to the other side a little early, it will still be a go. Two other couples are involved. I don't know that the campground have a deadline for reservations, so I suspect you won't have to know very far in advance, just call them a day or two before the event. I hope to know how many are coming a week in advance just so I can get the stickers ready.
Hope to see you in 2012.

We are most likely in as well. Sounds like a fun weekend. Will there be a potluck one evening?

Instead of a pot luck supper, which we've had trouble with a couple of times at other events, we will instead have a communal supper where everybody will bring their own supper all ready to eat, or bring their little BBQ or use one of ours to cook their whatever, and we will all eat together, much like a potluck, but no line-up and no excluding people on restricted foods etc. That will be on the Saturday around 5:30. We'll put out the call and people can help to pull a bunch of picnic tables together in one of the laneways. If it rains we could all go to the hall but it's a ways away and people may not wish to do that. However, we will go to the hall if it rains, after supper both Friday and Saturday for sing-a-long, cards etc. It's a nice hall.
The communal supper idea came from Quebec Bolerama and it worked out really, really well. We were most impressed.
50/50 draw and door prizes will be done after supper on Saturday night. Hopefully this will entail a whole lot less work for everybody and make it easier to help carry this thing on.

Just an afterthought. EggFest is open to ALL small, lightweight, molded fiberglass trailers - boler, casita, escape, trillium, scamp etc. etc. I assume everybody knows that but just to be sure.

Totally fine with the communal supper. I'm just surprised that there have been problems with potlucks. We've participated in them in other rallys and they have been great. It's nice to sample other people's dishes. We're good with either. Sounds like a fun weekend.
