the problems happened at two different ones we were at and at both some people did not get anything to eat because (can you believe it?) there was no food left and at one there were 400 people lined up so it took a huge amount of time for the end people to ever get through. We also have several diabetics, two with severe food allergies and 4 people I know of with Crone's disease so we just decided to go this route. We really enjoyed it at the one we were at. So hope to see you there.

Well am home from surgery so catching up on all fiberglass news. I hear Quebec bolerama has 105 units and it was a smash success. So sorry to have missed it but fully intend to make that my fall destination next year.
EggFest is garnering interest althoug it is still early and thanks to the Quebec people to passed on our information at their event last week. We appreciate it.
I find the blog site to be somewhat difficult to use so will just leave it with the EggFest information. People can find updates here instead.

Here is all the information for EggFest 2012 in Kingston.
It's open to all small lightweight MOLDED FIBERGLASS trailers, such as Trillium, Scamp, Boler, Casita, Escape etc. We are having a meet and greet Rally the last weekend of May (25, 26, 27) next spring in Kingston, Ontario at Rideau Acres Campground. Each site has hydro, water and picnic table.

The event is for 3 days but anybody who wishes can book the Thursday and/or the Sunday night if they so wish.

There is an area for a bonfire and sing-a-long which we can have both Friday and Saturday night and if it rains we do have use of the hall for music and cards etc. Saturday, we will have a communal supper instead of potluck. We will pull a bunch of picnic tables together in one area where everybody can bring their own supper but we can all eat together. That way, no line-ups and no excluding anybody with food restrictions. They do that at the Quebec meet and it works extremely well. Some of us with small BBQ’s took them over so people could cook their burgers etc. if they wished. The hall is also available in case of rain, if we so choose.

Saturday night there will be door prize draws and a 50/50 draw which will cover all other costs - so there will be no registration fee to attend the event once your camp fees are paid. We would like you to come and sign in under our banner however, so we can say hello. There is much to see and do in the Kingston Area and the campground has a full range of activities for all ages.

Once you are booked please let me know at layneparkin@gmail.com so I have an idea of how many are actually coming. The campground has somebody in the office all year round so you can book anytime through the winter.

Update on EggFest. Rideau Acres have notified me that they will hold the line on 2011 rates for next year and if we get 25 or more bookings there will be a discount on rates.

Yeah, that sounds like a great idea. It'll be about a 4 hour drive away for us. & we have family in Kingston! We'd probably only be able to stay for the Thursday & Friday nights though. Will confirm closer to the date.

Happy New Year everyone. We have booked our first camping trip to Mew Lake, in Algonquin Park, for the end of April so it feels like spring is coming, and winter hasn't really started here yet. The ice fishermen are out on the lake but it's only about 3" thick so I think they are pushing things a bit. I know there's a lot more winter to come but we always feel we can see the light at the end of the tunnel when we've made our first booking for the new season. Hope to see some of you at EggFest at the end of May.

Several inquiries about cancellation policy at Rideau Acres in Kingston for EggFest2012. They have advised me that there is a $5 admin fee if you cancel before 7 days, a non-refundable $10 fee if you have requested a specific site # and after the "7 day window" the fee is one night's fee. They do no however charge if the cancellation is for health reasons.
Have eggs from 3 states and 4 provinces interested in coming, so hope to see y'all there.

First Beachcomber trip of the season, I still have some work to do on the trailer but if I start end of April when I can get into our campground I should have most of what I need completed.

I'm not sure how many will be there as this is our very first event. Nobody has done one in this area and not in May so it will be interesting. I have about 25 who have emailed me or contacted my blog, but I haven't talked to Rideau Acres to see who else may actually have booked.
Hopefully we will get a nice turn-out, but I will wait until about a week before we head out to call for some numbers so I have an idea how much printing for stickers etc I will need to do beyond the original 25 I have designed and ready.
