Mid-Atlantic Rally 2011?

Hello all,

Now that we finally have us a Casita 17 FD, we are looking to attend/organize a rally.

Anyone here on the upper - mid Atlantic Coast, PA, NJ, NY, CT, MA, etc that would like to get together for a meet/rally in June?

That could be fun. What are the usual rally parameters? Weekend? Week? Something in between? I'd certainly be able to swing a weekend.

Being a new Egg owner here in Pennsylvania I'm anxious for an egg rally nearby and readily offer any help. Any particular locations in mind? With my prior trailer I attended a rally in 2009 at a Passport America CG in NC mountains. I had a great time and for a savings of 50% off the price of camping it was well worth joining Passport America.

Great! Let me check some locations, it appears at least the 3 of us could have a mini rally somewhere in PA!

NC could be a bit far south from what i was thinking but anywhere north of VA, I am open to. I would welcome ideas or help planning. We would like to meet other egg owners nearby and see an event around here.

Oh, I agree, NC is too far (10 hours). It was my first rally and I did not know any better.
Anything within 3-4 hours should be fine, The Poconos and the Catskills are very nice and are within a 1/2 day travel on a Friday, set up camp by dinner time and chat around the fireside. After breakfast on Saturday you normally have an open house where everyone tours each other's "Egg" and then a pot luck dinner on Sat. That is the way it was on my other rally. The 2 critical things for a meet are time and location. The rest is all fun.

depending on how far away you choose to hold it, we are interested and know of at least one other couple to join us.

Well, I'm not sure if anyone is organizing and I do not want to step on anyone toes but I propose something in July- maybe July 15-16th for a weekend. I have never stayed here but the KOA located in the Pocono's- Delaware Water Gap offers a 10% group discount and their sites have all the amenities. I'm just throwing out this date and location since it seems to be central,as a suggestion. Anyone else have any other places or times. If this date is good and if no one else offers, I'll contact the CG for details. What does everyone say, can we get a vote? I have stayed at KOA at Williamsport and Bellefonte, Pa but not the Poconos one, yet.
Think sunshine and warmth......

It's about 200 miles from my house to that KOA. We could do that.

Ok, looks like we have several "Egg's" that want to meet. I'll contact the KOA later this week and set up the details. Is that date ok with everyone so far?

We were going to go tubing up there this summer but didn't make it. Sounds like a good excuse to go.

I'm in............ the poconos are only about an hour from me..... the only setback for me would be if we have to go to Arizona to my sons house to set up for his wedding.
Sure would like to meet everyone as i have never gone to a Rally.

Ok, I just spoke with KOA and they can place a hold on 20 sites- their site map is http://www.poconokoa.com/ go to map for
sites # 123-143, close to bath, 30 amp, water, cable, internet. Final discount dependent upon # enrolling, ie. 10 is 10%, 15 is 15% and so on. Mary the owner # 631-414-7001 is her direct line. Make sure you reserve before 2/1/2011 to hold site- Mention "Egg Camper Rally" is group name. July 15-17th, 2011 is the date.

Thanks for the invite Jim -

I guess not this year ...keep trying. We have been doing most of our RV traveling Sept to May for the two of us...

For the next few years we plan to do things with our grandchildren when they are out of school - during June, July and August. Heck they still like to camp and fish with us and we want to be there to enjoy that time with them!

We have loose plans to head up Nova Scotia way ...maybe western Canada ...maybe Arkansas, New Mexico and Utah and the mountains?? Anyone headin' thata way - let us know ;-)

GPS is not allowed - follow the road! The more remote the better...

Bill

Jim, Thanks for contacting the KOA. It is too funny that I was looking at the same place. Sorry I dropped the ball after starting the thread. I had a crisis with a student at work and was pretty busy.

I was thinking of that KOA it is a great place and close to an environmental education center with plenty of hiking trails as well.

Awesome Thank you for setting it all in motion.

Jim, how about you PM me and we can connect more on getting it all organized,

How do we get this on the 2011 rally map?

We plan to use our egg at that campground for the first time in April/may so we can give a report as well.

Looking forward to it!

Don, Brenda, and Maceydog

Hey Jim,
Do you realize that the Ontario Bolerama will be held at the same time?
You will be about 5-1/2 hours or 300 miles apart. The weekend before or after might let those on the right coast hit 2 meets in one trip. Or for those considering traveling your way.
