In September 1999, we vacationed down in the Smoky Mtns, on the North Carolina side. We pulled into Cherokee, and figured the KOA would be easy. We pulled in, and discovered that they charged (I'm referring to my trip journal for this) $36.02 per night. To be fair, that price did include a porno movie.:censor Not exactly my style, nor my price range.:nono . So, we pulled back on the road, backtracked a couple miles to a campground that we had passed up as looking too expensive, and got a site for $14.00 with hookups. I think it was called Riverbend. It was really nice.

By the by, Indiana State Parks are up to $22.00 this year! :omy Gasp!

most expen$ive

LEAST Value for dollar? The Stockton/Lodi KOA affectionately referred to as the DOA by our boys. Almost 30.00 next to the train tracks and someone stole our laundry soap.:sad

Tiger Run resort, Breckenridge, Co ... US$45 a night ... and that was several years ago.

We pulled in to find the resort was hosting a Prevost Conversion Bus rally ... a rally sponsored by Prevost.

There were more than 50 buses in the park. Prevost even sent a couple of passenger buses to tour the rally attendees.

Some of the Prevost owners were nice folks.

But one couple walked by our trailer and I overheard the husband say, "Honey, just think, you could be traveling around in one of those little things."

Pam and I just laughed!

Guess the location.

Almost has to be Fort Wilderness at Disney World. Of course you
get all the amenities, like free boat rides to the Parks (to spend
even more money) and animals visiting the kids and you could eat
in the bathrooms.

Now let me add to the Brekenridge, CO Tiger Run RV RESORT. They are
currently $45 - $55 per night. They take reservations, but it is
first come first served on site selection. If you have a river
view, you pay $55. I just called today to make resevations for
the 4th of July and they are already sold out. They are the only
one with hookups for miles. National Forests have 4 campgrounds
in the area, but no hookups at all.

Thanks...

Mt. Hood Oregon

I regularly pay $33 a night (full hook-ups..including cable) at the Mt. Hood RV Resort. I can hookup at home, run up the moutain hookup at the site and be sitting in a lawn chair enjoying a cool beverage in about 45 min. It's worth every nickel to me. I generally park with the big RV's and each "area" has it's own restroom/showers, for which you need a key. I've found because I park with the big boys, I'm usually the only one who uses the "facilities" all weekend. Summer months, there are planned activites for kids/adults, which are included in the price..it's great for my 11 y/o, I usually don't move out of the lawn chair. Large indoor heated pool too. Small grocery store and the park has a traveling propane truck, they come to your site to refill you, if needed. The area is gorgeous and pristine clean. Can't ask for more.

I want to be there right NOW!:weep

Beaver Creek KOA was the most expensive site we stayed at on the Alcan. Crushed gravel parking. Atco trailer bathrooms. A hose bib and a duplex. Spartan. But at night it really got fun-- it was on the bend of a road, and cars would squeal around the curve, flooding our little tent trailer with light. I thought every one was going to hit us.

=shudder=

I drove straight through to Anchorage the next day.
