We changed our plan a little bit. We got a late start leaving Van Horn. I keep forgetting to factor in crossing time zones! And yesterday we crossed 2 time zones in 1 day!
Tonight we are in Abilene, Texas.
At the KOA

THUNDERSTORM!
All of the locals are probably wondering about the Californians who get the lawn chairs out to watch it rain. Better than fireworks at the 4th-of-July!
Some pictures from yesterday, before the rain.

When you get home today, your neighbor will be gone. As crowded as it was getting, It might even be a big BIG sticky.
It was a really, really nice not-a-rally. I had the best neighbors ever. Rain and T'storms every night, but the days were nice. Even Rusty (my dog - who is the king of all thunder weenies) had a great time. During last night's T'storms, except for a few pantings and a couple of worrisome looks, he just laid there. What a miracle!
Enjoy the rest of your trip, neighbors.

A big sticky, 2 monster trucks, and a boat... ... all in one campsite.

I had a wonderful time, Visiting with SUZ, and Rusty the Wonderdog! Then seeing my Dad on Father's Day.
What do you get after a week of Thunderstorms?
Sitting in backed up traffic on I-35W South near Denton Texas while waiting for the flash flood across the roadway to subside this morning.
Once past that, we made good time. We are spending the night in Odessa, TX.

You know what they say, "Be careful what you wish for ..."
Sorry for the delay, but SO glad you didn't get caught in it. That would have even been worse! That's a pretty elevated highway; I can't even imagine it being flooded. The creek that goes through the park just down the block tore out of its bank for the first time in the 16 yrs we have lived here. Tore down some fences and really left it's mark.
You, by any chance, stay at the Midessa Oil Patch RV park? Only place I know of around there. I spent the night there on my way to New Mexico last year. Spaces are a little small, but it's easy in-and-out for an overnighter.
I really enjoyed visiting with you and Robert, as well. Thanks for the solor demo, too. Quite a nifty setup. So easy I think that even I could do it!
Safe travels!

Monahans Sandhills State Park is a nice place to stay in the Midland/Odessa area.
(For next time!)

From there we made it to Casa Grande, AZ. We wanted to stop in Tucson, but they closed ALL of the off ramps on I-10 , and we just drove thru until we were exausted.
Then, from Casa Grande, we stayed on I-10 and went to Palm Springs to spend time with our friends who just moved there from Florida.
Our 5000 btu Air conditioner could not keep up with 113* Noonday heat.
