Eric and I ended up going about 10 miles up the Coquille River for a quiet paddle, due to the high winds on the coast. If we are lucky this year, we can paddle in the bay at the mouth of the river. If it is windy again, we can set up a shuttle and paddle down the 10 miles between the boat ramp and the campground...that would be a nice paddle!
Nancy - you were exploring getting a kayak...were you able to do that?

Great!!! We can set up a shuttle. We're excited!!!!!

Brad and Beverly from Santa Fe, NM are planning to attend this year. We have reservations for space C3 Thursday thru Sunday night, and leaving Monday morning. We will be caravaning north with some of the folks attending to Vancouver Island.
Our plans are to leave Santa Fe Saturday, July 8th, and may arrive a day or two early if we don't stop too many times along the way. Wonder how full the park may be earlier in the week?
We look forward to seeing everyone in July.

GREAT! It's going to be very nice to meet you!!
You shouldn't have too much trouble during the week, the weekends are usually already reserved. However, you may have to move sites... If you find you're gaining days and will need to come in early, I'd suggest you call ReserveAmerica when that fact is known, just so you'll know if there is space or not, or if you should make other arrangements.

 Hi Jackie (and all)!
We have been in Mexico for the last three weeks. That's why I haven't written.
We got an opportunity to try sea kayaking for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We had no instruction but did have help getting out into the ocean past the waves. We didn't dump ourselves until we were almost back to shore but the trip back was a tiny bit scary because we were using a different kayak on the return trip and it did not feel as stable as the one we used on the trip out. Also, the ocean was choppier on the way back.
The trip was really fun but we are not sure how often we would be someplace we could kayak.

Sharon, you're in luck. There's a playground right behind the registration area. Tire swings, monkey bars (for the little monkey's) and slides. The whole thing is placed in sand...so you wouldn't even have to go to the beach for the kids to play, if you chose not to.

Hi Sharon!
There are at least three other trailers with kids. I have no idea about their ages. But there are two kids in A-18 right next to you. They are from MN.
In the past, people with younger kids have signed up later. Guess it's just harder to figure out everyone's schedule... or get the time to make the reservations.
Anyway... your kids will get LOTS of attention. (There will be lots of four-legged babies there, if they like dogs.) I'm so glad you are all coming and that we will get to meet the rest of your family.

p.s. I lost my mind, again....we now have a 4 1/2 month old Doodle mix of some sort from a farm just north of Olympia. Gertie...I am hoping she will come to the Nor Ore Meet in April. Right now she is so scared of cars she barfs.....nice huh! I have been walking her around the Trill everyday and put her in it today. She sat there pleading with these big eyes, "please let me out". Yeesch, this is going to take some hand holding.

Nancy...can you explain to me how you were able to change the Kayak you were in for a different one while in the middle of the ocean?

I would have certainly dumped while trying to switch kayaks with someone else while out in the ocean...Pleese es'splain Lucy.

Actually, Paul - it can be done...I'll have to show you at Bullards. It is easiest, though, with two smallish ladies. I once two largish men try it, and it was one of the funniest comedy routines I have seen in a long time...and one of the wettest!!!!

Sorry, Paul. I guess that wasn't very clear, was it? There were two kayaks. We paddled from the mainland out to an island. The guide had Michael and I take a different kayak back to the mainland than we paddled out in. (Does that make sense? )

Big news for Site A46. Lily and I have relinquished it to a couple from Tahoe. Steve and Pat Grover plus dogs Sidney & Harley.
Steve asked about the Oregon gathering so I decided to give my site to them. It's only 3 months until blast off for Alaska. It looks like all is a go . I saw no sense keeping the site any longer.
BUT, we should be at Bullards next year. As the only other trip I'd like to do is to Eastern Canada and New England. Right now I can't imagine wanting to do another big trip back to back. I think a short one to Oregon and parts north would be in order for 2007. 2008 will be just fine for the East. But, you never know I might change my mind.
I hope, and know, you all will have a wonderful time.

Someone asked about site B45.
I was in B43 across the path from B45 two years ago. There was Casita in B45, don't remember if it was a 16 or 17 footer. But it was one of the two.
I saw them one day and inquired if they were part of our group. They barely responded saying No, and were gone the next day.
So you'll fit.

HI! Joy & Lily,
we will miss you at the gathering but it will be worth it to go to Alaska.
I bet that Lily has became a good camper by now and is great to have along to keep you company.
Have a great trip, Jay

We'll miss you Joy and Lily! Please ask Steve and Pat to register for the site so I can have their information. They need to go here to register:
Oregon Gathering Registration
Have a wonderful trip and we'll see you next year!
