[b]SOMETHING INTERESTING THAT WAS POSTED ON ANOTHER FORUM:

Quote:
I (Gethereaux) was a Boy Scout camper at Tonkawa from '48 through '51. Then I was a waterfront instructor the summers of '52 - '54. Any stories you have heard about how cold the water is are likely understated! The refrain of our time was, "The water at old Tonkawa, they say is mighty fine. But when you jump into it, it freezes your behind." I have VERY fond memories of my time there.

My wife and I now live in Tennessee. We pick up our Casita in Rice on 8/23 and are trying to arrange our schedules to attend the PKF Rally. We should know within a few days whether or not we can make it. I hope it works out.
Good luck and safe travel to all,

My husband, Toby, got a message from another Scamp owner that lives right here in our neighborhood. He wanted to make sure we knew about the Pine Knot Rally. Since I don't have the email address, I just wanted to let them know how much we appreciate the nice gesture and that we are signed up and rarin' to go. Hope they are too. We are anxious to meet them, we live just 3 blocks off the same road that they do. Small world, isn't it?

That's one neat thing about a rally such as PineKnot. You can make new friends from across the country, across town, or just down the road a piece.

Glad to hear from the Bowers family! You got us up to 37. If everyone who has registered shows up, our attendance will beat last year's. And we hope more will sign up soon!

well, we are preparing and making lists to have a smooth trip and rally, I have not seen any mention of a 'traveling' supper--where each camper has a pot of someting to share with the group. Are we doing a 'covered dish' supper on any day? I have a killer crock ot bbq i intend on bringing if so. otherwise, it's wieners! ha! wwell, maybe brats. I'm particular, well, not really. I WILL eat nearly anything.

I haven't seen the schedule for this year, but last year we had a potluck diner and recipe exchange on Thursday night. It was very popular and I would bet that it will be on the schedule again.

Somewhere in Paul's correspondence he mentioned the Pot Luck dinner would be held on Thursday night.

Tom, are you still planning to have a Dutch oven cooking demonstration?

We're looking forward to meeting ya'll there.

Yup... We for sure want to have a Potluck! We had it on Thursday night last time, and that seemed to work out OK.

I am talking with a local entertainer about putting on a musical program on one of the nights. Also, all those who want to can plan on eating together in Nacogdoches on Saturday at noon.

BTW... We now have FORTY-FIVE rigs registered. That's four more than before. We hope everyone can get there safely.

I am doing my best to have an excellent local group of musicians to provide entertainment. Tentatively, we expect to have the LUFKIN CRIMESTOPPERS BAND perform on Saturday night. This group of guys is made up of members of the Lufkin (Texas) Police Department. They have won numerous awards, have made two albums, and have been featured on a state-wide TV program. Most of all, I know some of them personally and can attest that they are a great bunch of people. Their only charge for performing is a donation to Crimestoppers, so we will probably "pass the hat" during their program. I should have some definite information by this weekend. Stay tuned for further developments--and keep your fingers crossed! Check them out at their website-- Lufkin Crimestoppers Band.

We now have 45 units registered, including several unusual rigs--such as a Compact Jr., a U-Haul, and others.

If you want to attend and have not registered, it's not too late.

To Register

First, make your reservations directly with

Telephone 936-564-8888.

Then, go HERE and complete the online "Pine Knot Registration Form"

And finally, please post here and tell us you are coming.
