We went with friends of friends last year to the mini rally at Dome ROck and it was very nice, good times and good
people. We are the odd balls with the scamp 5er. We really enjoyed the early Jan. date, as I can't imagine how crowded it
is during the big show. There was plenty to see, early. We will try to make it this year on the Feb. date. Jim and Sally

Sally:
If you and Jim show up, I will bring the Casita. I would like to see the Scamp again, and hear about your Alaska trip.
Annette says, she put it on the schedule, and we plan to be there.
I hope to go to the Bluebonnet Rally in Texas, and the Oregon Gathering with the Casita this year.
Are you and Jim going to Bandon, Oregon in July? We have made our reservations, and plan to be there.

I plan on joining you'll if I can get out of Dodge (Oregon). Does anyone have the coordinates? I got a GPS for Christmas and want to play with it.
See you in the sunshine!

Directions: Aprox 5 miles west of Quartzsite on I-10, take the Dome Rock Rd. exit ( #11 ). If heading west, go under the overpass at the end of the offramp. Go east on the frontage road 100 yards or so to the entrance road on your right. We will have "Pie Plate" signs directing you from there. Signs will be posted by mid afternoon on Jan 31.

Sounds like fun and not too far away either! I am unfamiliar with BLM camping though. Is a reservation needed? Are there any toilet facilities (outhouse, satellite, etc) in the area as my Scamp is not self contained. I, too, would arrive saturday as a 4-lettered word.........WORK still gets in the way and no vacation time yet. Thanks, Chris.

Y'all have been added.
No, this is complete boondocking. What you need must be brought with you and taken away with you. No ressises needed. Find a spot in the open desert and plop. Toilet facilities are not avaialbale.
Might be a good time to invest in a porta potti, they are an excellent item to have under any circumstance. This one item can unleash you from all places with two holers and allow you to go where ever you want without worry!

Robert and I were sitting here brainstorming. Robert has a 25 year old Canvas Wall Tent. There is enough room inside to stand up. IIRC, it would sleep 4 persons, but my thought is to provide a privacy enclosure. Would someone want to contribute a porta-potty or 2? Would there be too much difficulty keeping it clean enough to sleep in later? Like I said, just brainstorming here. If it is a bad idea, feel free to let me know that, too. I wonder what it would cost to rent a commercial porta potty?
We arrive Friday afternoon/evening and depart Sunday morning...

Gina and Frederick, thanks for the insight to BLM camping. Looks like I will invest in a portapotti for my Scamp as this outing sounds too good to pass up. I look forward to meeting you all if even for a day on my part. Thanks again, chris.

A friend is going to try to help me fix the fuel lines in my generator the weekend prior, so hopefully, among mine and others there will be some method available for battery charging for those that run low.
I have solar, but in winter, even in the desert, it is less effective so I may be using it myself!

GinaD: Let me know if you don't get your generator running. As I posted on the other website, I will be bringing a generator. It is a 3000 Watt Kipor.

Wow! I haven't been on this forum for awhile and it looks like there is going to be a great turnout at Dome Rock! We just got back from Dumont and Death Valley and we can't get enough. We are looking forward to the Quartzite campout and meeting more fiberglass enthusiasts. We also have the "four letter word" WORK. So we won't be there until Friday. But, George and Betty and some folks from Phoenix should be there to set up camp on Thursday.
One more thing.....whoever put the list together....George and Betty of Lake Havasu and Doug and Michelle of Kingman........instead of George and Doug
Hope to see you all in the desert! and throw a few shoes?
