...well ok it wasn't - *LOL
Had our first trip in the
Bigfoot this weekend. Stayed just past east gate of Manning Provincial Park near Copper Creek (British Columbia). The forestry site we stayed in was free and our only neighbors were whiskeyjacks, bluejays and squirrels. I read this morning that our government, in its infinite wisdom, is now going to charge fees for all crown lands, including day use and hiking areas, etc. Lots of firewood around as the pine beetle is wreaking havoc on all of our province's forests.
EVERYTHING worked in the trailer including the ignitor on the stove, which I assumed would not work, just like my barbeque at home. We had some fun leveling the trailer, I still don't have leveling jacks or proper blocks. We woke up to a warm
fridge. I guess the previous owners assurance that tank #1 was half full - was wrong. Good thing our trailer comes with two 30 LB tanks! We also found out the smoke alarm works too! Just the firepit smoke getting a closer look inside our trailer.
The bed in our
Bigfoot is sooo comfortable (but maybe it was just the whiskey!) and I found it hard to get out of bed in the morning. We ate like royalty - tiger prawns on the Camp Chef stove in garlic and butter, Alaskan King Crab legs, and fresh garlic bread were just some of the weekends indulgences.
I learned a valuable lesson (stemming from my own ignorance), never take the wife's word that the forestry site, located right next to the river and surrounded by thick trees and bush, will be easy to turn around in. My Durango and Bigfoot are 38 feet long combined. It's a good thing I know how to back up a unit like this. Sue just liked the site so much that she never thought of how we would get out. Next time I take the walk in!
Our first trip was excellent - the worst part was it was only from Friday to Sunday. My first septic dump was blessed by the fact that the grey water level was more than ample!
Excuse the choppiness of this report - I am not much of a writer - but you get the general drift.
Can't wait to get out next weekend!
