Early arrivals were making reservations yesterday. We already have 10 signed up. Our first year we only had 12 eggs in attendance.

Oh, gosh! I'm hoping to get to this even if it is with the tent to just check it out. We used to live in Junction City and picnic and camp out that way. Have been fishing at Farnum Creek. At this moment, I'm not sure if I will be in Kansas or near but I'm keeping my eye on this one!

Tent? We don't use that word here. Actually I think early Sept. in that neck 'o the woods will be pretty hot yet, so you might want some AC.

2012 Kansas Egg-stravaganza
It is hard to believe but Egg-stravaganza is only 6 weeds away. Joyce and I have been working on the agenda, but still need to tweak it a little.
We have made a few changes than we need to alert you to:
1. We will NOT be doing the welcome hot dog roast this year. We will have the nightly campfires so just bring your own snacks and drinks and enjoy the conversation on Wednesday.
2. Instead of doing omelets in a bag we will have a breakfast potluck.
3. If you want to show your egg you will need to fly a balloon. (Balloons and strings will be furnished)
4. On Sunday morning your hosts will be cooking pancakes for breakfast so you will not need to worry about fixing breakfast and cleaning up prior to hitting the road.
5. Fly traps will be set up around the campground
We are keeping these favorites:
1. Games. We have Washer Toss and Bolo Golf. Feel free to bring your games.
2. Buy, sell and trade table.
3. Rally Bags. Let’s share something we have discovered in our camping experiences. We will have a bag for each Egg so you can (if you wish) add something to each bag. The only rule is: CHEAP! (Tom’s hint: Dollar Store) It can be something you make, something you buy, a useful website, a recipe you really love, a hint for your Egg, an appropriate cartoon, anything you think others would appreciate. The possibilities are endless. We will pass the bags out on Saturday evening and discover what our treasures are. It should be fun but not a burden so remember to keep it simple.
4. We will be going out to lunch one day.
Looking forward to seeing you soon
Tom & Joyce

Update
8/15/12 update
Only 3 weeks away. Those who attended last year may remember that the lake was 14 feet above conservation level because the Corps was holding water to reduce flooding on the Missouri River. This year in the midst of the worst droughtin 50 years the Corps is releasing water from 3 Kansas lakes including Milford to maintain navigation on the Missouri River. As of today the lake is 3 feet below conservation level. The lake is 17 feet lower than last year.
Unless we receive a good deal of rain in the next 3 weeks we may not be able to have any campfires. If that is the case we will still have an evening gathering and chat.
As of right now 2 sites still available to reserve. There also 10 first come first served sites in A Loop. B loop is available but has no hook-ups. Out of the 35 sites that can be reserved 12 & 14 are open, 2 & 6 are reserved by ?? the rest are all withour group.
Be sure to remember about the Rally Bags:
Rally Bags. Let's share something we have discovered in our camping experiences. We will have a bag for each Egg so you can (if you wish) add something to each bag. The only rule is: CHEAP! (Tom's hint: Dollar Store) It can be something you make, something you buy, a useful website, a recipe you really love, a hint for your Egg, an appropriate cartoon, anything you think others would appreciate. The possibilities are endless. We will pass the bags out on Saturday evening and discover what our treasures are. It should be fun but not a burden so remember to keep it simple.
Looking forward to seeing you soon

Judy,
From what I can see site A-06 is reserved from the 2nd through the 9th per the Corps. I can not tell who has it reserved. If that is your reservation you should have received an e-mail from the Corps. I think you have to call to cancell a reservation, I've never done it.
I don't have you on my list, but will be glad to add you.
If that is not your reservation sites A-12 and A-14 are open. In addition there are 10 firstcome first serve sites in A-Loop. You get here and there will be a place for you.

Sun, Sept 9
8:00 Coffee and pancakes.
Saying our farewells and breaking camp.
*Rally Bags
Looks like we will have around 30 Eggs this year and we are continuing this fun idea.
Throughout Rally
We’ll put up a table somewhere for campers to sell or give away things they no longer need. It will be on the honor system so put your name and price on the items so the person who claims your castoffs knows who they need to settle up with. Books, movies, camper parts, jacks, whatever…..
GAMES: We have Washer Toss and Bolo Golf. Feel free to bring your games. If we have enough interest we can work up a tournament. We will actually have the games set up this year.
Area attractions include:
Abilene (25 miles): Eisenhower Center and Presidential Library, Greyhound Hall of Fame, Old Abilene Town, Museum of Independent Telephony, Seelye Mansion and Gardens, antique stores, Russell Stover Candy factory and store, Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad Excursion Train.

Wow-so many eggers in Kansas! We'll just be getting back from our shakedown cruise to Estes Park. Nice to know we might someday get to know all you folks in Kansas. Enjoy!
