Cindy and I have been waiting to make any announcement about the 2021 Pink Elephant
Rally at Pikes Peak State Park, McGregor, IA, due to COVID. Originally, the
rally was planned to have been set as a May 7-9 non-organized gathering this year since we didn’t know when vaccines would be widely available. There would not be a gathering at the shelter and people would be on their own for gatherings at camp sites.
Reservations for sites have typically been opened 3 months prior to your arrival date (Feb. 7 for a May 7 arrival). However, the following announcement was posted on the Pikes Peak website on Dec. 22 and has not been changed:
Campground Closure: The campground will not be accepting reservations for the 2021 recreation season due to the possibility of a campground renovation. (Posted December 22, 2020)
We are not sure if that means the reservation system will be down all year, allowing only walk-ins, or if no one will be allowed to camp there. Therefore, we will post this just as a SAVE THE DATE notice in case camping is allowed. We will keep checking the website and provide updates around Feb. 1. It is very possible that this
rally will not be held again until 2022.
