Well, its almost here. The first annual Washington State get together is less than two weeks away. So far, we still have approximately 22 people still going. Should be fun.

going to have to cancel my reservation. Decided it is just a tad to close to my last trip and with a kid in school it makes it more difficult to just head out of town at my convenience. So thank you for pulling a Washington gathering together, may the weather gods bless you with nice warm sun and cold cool beers and or pop or water. So my site up for grabs..I will wait two days to cancel in case there are any takers who want it. Later Brandy

I know I know I thought you might give me grief... ...if you drive thru the seattle area (ish) in the early hours or somewhere close by I would be willing to drive to see your trailer and have a cup of coffee.......I'm bummed to but I can't justify taking my kid outta school so mommy can go camping, its a 4 hour drive so leaving after school would be a long haul as well on a friday night outta Seattle. Hubby works and doesn't mind me going but I really have been missing spending family time..so I made the choice

Hay Jello Lady.....
Would you like some cheese with that LOL????

You have made a wise choice in opting to remain at home.
IMHO, Family should ALWAYS come first...

Chill out and catch up on family ties (NO, not the show), there'll be other meets to get to later on.
Just don't leave the D.B. at home, we could see it clear down to our site (an beyond) last weekend!!

IF there is to be a 2nd gathering next year, the Trailer Goddess and I will make a more concerted effort (plan a mini vacation around the event) to add some C.C. (Canadian Content) to the meet. That is, IF they allow us to participate

Sad news - they changed the dates of the new electronic charting roll out where Kathie works to next week so we will not be able to attend - site 57 is available (this work thing has just has to go!) - Maybe next year...

Are we having a potluck for this gig? If so, and thinking we might be enduring some crisp autumnal weather, I've assembled the ingredients - Campbell's golden mushroom soup, Onion soup, beef, mushrooms and fresh veggies - for a comforting beef stew in the Dutch Oven. Willing to make it some night and share.

But one thing, the first presidential debate is Friday night, 6pm. Simon and I have scoped out the tv waves for Grays Harbor and they DO NOT look good for television reception. So, likely we shall be seeking a tavern of some sort that is broadcasting the debate... can't miss this one. So much is riding on our future.

Also, we are expecting the return of the Tiki Bar, correct? If so, we have some surprises in store.
See you at Gray's Harbor before the week is out.

Latest forecast from the Weather Guesser says that after the expected storm on Thursday, the nice weather should be back Friday and hold through the weekend. Yippee! I hope he guessed right this time.

As to a pot luck, I think that several of us were thinking something along the lines of Saturday evening. It seems to be an acceptable day to have it for most folks so far.

Perhaps we may even have a short meeting to start the ball rolling to start thinking about the next one. This trip didn't have a lot of lead time, but I think that next year's trip could be quite a good one with enough advanced notice for everyone to plan and prepare better.

We're still gonna have fun...because we can!

Cool - Norma was just asking about a potluck...
We need to stay home Friday evening, so we won't be down until Saturday morning.

See y'all then!

Thanks to Greg Finke (who we learned graduated from the SAME H.S. back East that I did, what were the chances of that quirky aside?) a bunch of us showed up at the "First Annual WA state Get-together" and a good SUNNY time was had by all. Grayland Beach State Park was green, clean and thoroughly delightful.

Simon and I arrived in drizzle on Thursday afternoon, but by late Friday afternoon the gray had disappeared, skies turned blue and more of you showed up. It just got better'n'better.

4/14 - Mike & Sandy ?
32 - John & Lisa G - Yes, friendly newcomers with their lil cutie patootie "Cody" all decked out in fancy schmancy necktie
41 - John & Marilyn - YES, with their lil fuzzybutt for Sat night only
42 - Sharon H. - didn't make it this time
49 - Larry & Carrie - sure thang in their spiffed up new oldie
50 - Deb & Chuck - sure thang, it their hot "new" '88 Big Foot 5th Wheel
51 - Ron M. - that rascal drove all the way from Lopez Island
53 - Bill G. and the "dogs" (Jacquie will be in San Fran) ?
54 - Greg F. - yep, and his wife "Brenda-ette" joined us too, Greg and I learning that we'd graduated from the same H.S. back east in NY state.
55 - Chris & Maureen - Yeppers, with Maureen baking a splending onion dish
58 - Paul & Norma - ?
60 - Simon & SharEn - that would be me

And there was also our W.I. pal Eric in his wonderous Perris Pacer, Jake and Judy in a spiffy Casita, and down from Bremerton came Cory & Betty, just for a few hours, driving in their noticable yellow & black "Smart Car."

To Cory AKA "Norm": As Simon and I returned by ferry to Whidbey Island, there were literally HUNDREDS of bikers getting off the ferry at Mukilteo, and on the Clinton side, hundreds more bikers getting on! We'd never seen so many bikers all at once!!! Too fun. We hope you had a safe ride. And a special "OOOOOOO" to you and Betty. Did I remember your names right?

We had a blast the entire weekend.
Notice I didn't say a word about the MERINO'S CLAM CHOWDER YOU ALL STOLE FROM ME!!!

Cheers till next fun time... Be well all... here're two happy snaps from our crampsite.

It was a fun weekend with beautiful weather sunny and warm on the beach. It was hard to believe it was the Washington coast 70 degrees! All 18 adults enjoyed the pot luck dinner Saturday night. Thank you Sharen for telling us where the good clam chowder was in Westport.

As was said already, a big "Thank You" goes out to Greg for stating the where and when of this gathering and tolerating all of us at the potluck. Seriously, it was a good time with good people as always. And the weather was surprisingly nice.

Thanks again!

YUP--- had a hoot-- thanx Greg and all for a fun weekend. We thought we were gonna drown when we arrived in Westport Wed afternoon..... and I only had one small blue tarp for a poncho. But, by Thurs when we got to Grayland, it was bearable and the weekend even nicer. Monday morning, too, before we left was nice. Here's a few snaps and also where we "stealth camped" above Ellensburg on the way home. (one just can't drive toooo far in one day ya know) L & C

Well, I finally decided to come home. It was too nice Monday and Tuesday, so I just had to stay until this morning (10/1). After a successful "first annual" get together, I took a much needed couple of extra days to recover from the tremendous ordeal of hosting the event,(lol) Hey, that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it! Actually, the event went just fine, and everyone helped out a great deal with all the logistics. Heck, I didn't even have to decide where to eat! It was truly amazing how little effort it takes to "host" an event with all the folks attending pitching in as they all did. What a great first event, the weather was great, even felt like summer! (well, I think that it's what summer would have felt like if we had one this year). But it was really pleasant. After the weekend crowd dissipated, I moved out to one of the sites closer to the beach for a few extra days.
Now we'll have to decide on what, when, and where for our next rally. As Jake and Judy said, we don't have to limit ourselves to just one event a year either...how true! So, anytime now, we can begin our discussions on the "2nd Annual WA State" get together. For those who couldn't attend, you missed a really fun time. There's no excuses now, since we are starting over again. The floor is open!

Thanks Greg and Brenda and Sharon and Simon and all the rest of the folks. It was a great excuse for me to get away from home and to see parts of the State I miss too much.

And Lopez isn't that far away.
