Amerigo 16 ft. - very good condition $3000
Hi,
My parents in northern Ohio have a 16 foot Amerigo trailer for sale.
They have taken excellent care of it all of these years since the 1970's and it is largely in original condition except for things that wore out over time, such as the oven and/or refrigerator I think. They obsess over the cleanliness and have waxed the darn thing every year. They cover it in the winter.
I'm including lots of photos with this post.
I'd like to hear a little bit of discussion from members about how much I should ask for this trailer. I will make the final decision for them as to the price. Cash will be required.
For Amerigo lovers who don't want to do a lot of work to get their new trailer ready, this is the one for you.
Ken

I'll take a stab at it and say that you might ask $3500 but be ready to negotiate down somewhat. Most Amerigos I've noticed went for less than $2000, but were not in as good condition as this one appears to be. Take it with a grain of salt, I'm no expert.

I'd go higher - $4,500 - $5,000. It looks like a really nice trailer.

There are two Amerigos currently on the market. One in TN the other in NY. Both appear to be in very good to excellent condition and are in the $4500+ price range. Neither have sold after over a month of advertising.
Amerigo FG16's are, to many buyers, very old and are a niche market. And with the possibility of an inoperative refrigerator, selling price is further depressed.
Were any of these on the west coast you could find a buyer at a higher price, but away from here the prices will suffer.

Is the fridge working? That's a biggie, because it can be replaced cheaply with a dorm-type fridge, but many people want a 2 way so they can run it on propane in national parks and other cool places that don't have hook ups. 2 & 3 way fridges are expensive to replace!

Bathroom?
It appears that some Amerigo's have a functioning toilet and shower, while others have a port-potty room. I suspect that will affect price. What does this model have? Good luck!

The only Amerigo I have seen with a plumbed bathroom was one that the owner had added a cassette toilet to himself.
In the original Amerigo FG16 brochure they don't list a plumbed bathroom, a water heater, shower or even a gray water holding tank. But that's not to say that they weren't offered in a later brochure/versions
In as much as none less than a certain Mr. Stewart Gardner Sr. had his finger in this pie, nothing will be a complete surprise as to how they were or weren't built.
The refrigerator was also an option, it could have an icebox.

Thanks for the replies
Yes, the refrigerator is working fine (It's the 2 or 3 way type; I can find out for you). I was just trying to remember things that might have been worked on over the years...the point being that as things malfunctioned, the owners were right on top of fixing them.
The trailer does have a closet that can hold a port a pottie. Matter of fact, if it's still in there, I'm sure the parents would happily throw that into the deal.
If anyone's interested, I've set the price at $3,900.

I've had a few inquiries by private message, but nothing serious yet.
I'll take the highest offer over $3,000, but not a penny under. I would just hang onto it for a few years and see if one of my sons wants it for their young families.

Save it for the kids. What a nice, inexpensive way for everyone to spend time together. Keep it in the same shape it's in now and sell it for 3k in 10 dears when they've out grown it

This is a pristine camper! It would be perfect for my young family of 4 (by the way, can it sleep 4?). I live in IL. but my in-laws live just south of Akron, OH. Is this camper still available and could I send them to look at it for me? Please email me at thekaples@yahoo.com if that is possible.
Thanks for posting this!
