We have a 1996 17' Casita which we love but we just purchased a smaller tow vehicle and we want a lighter trailer. We would like to trade for a 13' or 16' Casita, Scamp, or Burro, or buy one (no problem selling the 17').
We are in the Prescott, AZ area.

This is my setup when we want more space. The regular table is turned sideways as a couch seat across the back. The bedding is rolled up as a back to the couch. It is using the standard table which can be set up as normal.

Fold out extension next to stove is our addition.

Are you sure you don't want a 13', say a Scamp, so you can be really light? Maybe like a 2004? Perhaps one in the same state?

Just asking.

Hmmmm. Does it have a "privacy room" or something so you don't have to sit in the middle of the trailer on a porta-pottie? Which model is it?

Hmmm, you first, what model is yours?

Just kidding. It's the basic 13' with all options. A curtain is hung between the closet and the over-stove cabinet and it makes a nice little niche at the door for the porti-potti that stores neatly under the couch/bunk bed.

Ours is the Spirit Delux. It has the furnace, a hot water heater, an awning, two propane tanks, and the larger refrigerator. We were trying to reduce the hitch weight for the new vehicle so we removed the air conditioner. That made a bigger closet, but A/C could be put back in.

We just bought a Toyota Highlander Hybrid with a 3500 puund towing capacity. Our trailer weight is about 2900 pounds fully loaded, which is within our vehicle's capacity, but could approach it if we had extra stuff. Hence our desire for a lighter trailer. We are interested in the possibility of a 13' trailer if it looks like it will work for us. What features does your scamp have??

I'll post some pics in a few minutes.

WE have an older 13 Scamp. We need more room. Yours looks great! How much do you want to sell it for?

We just sold it. BUT we don't have a replacement! This is the first time in 31 years that we don't have some kind of RV! I feel really deprived.

What is your Scamp like? Pics? etc.

Congratulations on your sale, it sure looked nice
from the pictures you posted. I see there is a
2002 Scamp Travel Trailer 13' on ebay, too bad
it is in the NY area, at least too bad for me, I do
think this would be one with the lower ceiling
height.

Hooray! We got what we wanted! We are now the proud owners of a 16' Scamp (2002)and are really happy with it. We had to drive it home through high winds (more than 40 mph wind gusts) and steep terrains (from Show Low to north of Prescott, AZ, via the Verde Vlly.; 225 miles about) so got to test it under adverse conditions. It worked out great. Towing it with a new (turned over 1000 miles on the way home) hybrid Highlander with steep grades and against the wind (when it wasn't hitting us from the side) we got over 21 mpg. Our experience with a Prius is that mileage gets better after the first year of driving so "Hi" may do better than that in the future and under better conditions. So it looks like we did the right thing "trading" our heavy Casita for a lighter trailer.

Thanks!
