I am seriously considering buying a new
Bigfoot while there are still a few available. So I am offering up our '97 to members of this group.
This is the 21 foot model with rear bed. It is the 2500 series with thermopane tinted
windows and complete winter insulation and heating package. All plumbing and tanks are in the enclosed heated areas. It has a stove with oven, 3-way Dometic
fridge with good-sized freezer compartment, water heater and
microwave. The original owner also ordered most of the available options: aluminum wheels, skylight,
awning, attached ladder,
fiberglass spare tire cover and
solar panel. He added a second
solar panel later.
This trailer was somewhat faded and oxidized when I bought it. Last summer, I took it to a
fiberglass boat specialist and had his crew buff out and restore the finish. I also had some of the original
Bigfoot decals replaced that had been faded by UV. I replaced the old cassette stereo with a CD player/radio. The vinyl floor was somewhat yellowed, so my wife talked me into putting down a Pergo floor. We think it looks great. But if a new owner doesn't like it, it's not glued down and the original vinyl should still be perfectly ok. I recently replaced the tv antenna booster and wired a second jack for a satellite dish. This trailer did not have an air conditioner when I bought it, so I had one installed. I special-ordered a Coleman Power Saver 11000 BTU model that can be operated with my Honda 2000
generator. I installed a Fantastic Fan in the bathroom vent. I lined the closet walls with tongue-and-groove cedar. Looks good, smells even better.
The wallpaper is showing signs of de-lamination around the
windows. I have not found any water damage in the underlying wood, so I think this is due to condensation. It seems to be a common issue in older Bigfoots. We had considered re-doing the wallpaper, but decided it wasn't a big enough deal to tackle it.
I took the trailer down to my local RV guy this morning and asked him to re-seal all the pass-throughs on the roof and pack the wheel bearings. When I get it back, I will need a few days to clean it up and move things out before I show it. I am hoping it will find a good home with a member of this forum.
BTW, the asking price is $11,500. I have some pics to email to potential buyers.
