Hi there, Your scamp looks great from the photos. Is everything in working condition, including the fridge(is fridge 3 way?), and heater ? How much does it weigh? How easy is it to tow? Does the roof vent have a fan? Do you foresee any problem at Customs to bring it back to Ontario?
Thanks Dev

Very cute! If I did not have my UHaul that I really like, I would buy this and then run down to the theatrical shop and buy a poodle skirt to match. Really adorable!

Hello,
Everything works, the fridge works great on 120V and LP. I have never used 12V DC to power the fridge - so I am not sure if that works. From what I hear 12 does not work good to power the fridge anyway. I just tested the heater and it works great. Theses Scamps weigh about 1600 lbs, very easy to tow. I do not have a roof vent fan, we use the clip on type 120v fans when we camp. I am not sure about customs. I know people that have bought cars and truck from Canada with no problems.
Thanks,
Joe Z

If he has a the actual "title" document, you should not have any troubles at all. Some of the Ontario transfer offices demand one, others will accept our equivalent of "ownership" (the green peice of paper for your plates).

hi, Do you have the actual "title document"/"paper ownership"? How far are you located from the Sarnia/Port Huron Border?
Thx Deb

We just visited the Scamp factory and got a quote for a trailer with mostly the same layout and options you have. We were quoted an estimated dry weight of 2400 lbs. I would be surprised if the weight increased 800 lbs since 1980. Any way that you can get it weighed? I may interested if it in fact only weighs 1600 lbs.

Hello,
Here is the link to the Scamp site showing the 16' specifications http://www.scamptrailers.com/Showroom/16Tr...ifications.aspx
They say approx weight 1750 lbs. Somewhere I had read 1600 lbs, possibly in the literature. I will have the title this week, I just transfered it last month - since I am selling it. - Minnesota usually takes 4-6 weeks to get the title and it has been about 4 now. The title is clear with no loans.

My 1988 16' Scamp Deluxe, without water and without an air conditioner, but loaded with food for three days (and LOTs of beverages ) a 1/2 full 20# propane tank on the front + battery, 3-way frig and furnace, etc. weights 2150. I can't image adding another 500lbs worth of stuff either...

The weight specified at the Scamp website is for the 16' standard with no options. Based on Donna's trailer weight, it would seem that the Scamp has gained quite a few pounds since the 1980's though. Either that or they overestimate the weight of options and the different floorplans now. I wonder what changes they have made that increased the weight so much?
