Hi Robert, nice looking VT. Please let us know on this thread when it sells so your ad can be moved to the sold thread. Thanks and good luck.

Just a question. How "rare" is a 16 ft UHaul?

Ebay ad says less than 80 were built. Most Uhaul travel trailers are 13'.

When we owned our VT, initially, it did not have surge brakes. Our tow vehicle was a Eurovan. We are not crazy drivers, and it worked. However, it was a LOT better once we added surge brakes.

If this is the original tongue, the surge brakes from the double-axel Uhaul work. I found a used one on ebay. Kevin installed the brakes.

Doesn't have the hydraulic surge actuator nor electric brakes. Never felt the need for either as the weight of the trailer is under 2K lbs. Towed either with a K1500 Suburban or Ford F150 and both pulled easily.

Some say less than 80 VTs were made, but a very knowledgable U Haul guy says only 59 were made.

That is correct, only 59. A few years ago, a Uhaul employee who was working on an ad campaign at the time that involved the campers, researched the VT and CT and found the official numbers of both. I don't remember the CT numbers, but the VT (I am a former VT owner.) number was 59.
